Hi I'm Dick

I grew up in State of Idaho, at the age of 24 I joined the Mormon faith.

About Me

I am pushing 80 years of life here on earth. I spent my professional working days in two professions. My father was a building contractor, so I learned early in life the home construction business. After joining the Mormon faith at 24, education became important to me, three years later found me attending BYU. I was married with four children ages 2, 4, 5, and 7. I graduated five years later with degree in Accounting, minor in Economics. Shortly after graduation our fifth child was born. My first employment after college was with a Material and Building Company as a tax account. Within months I was transferred to the building side of the company, because of my building background and accounting degree, I was asked to join the management team. From then on my career centered in these two profession. I am sports minded, played softball up into my 50's. I love to golf, fish, and camp.

Why I am a Mormon

Several years ago I began reading the Book of Mormon, which my wife had brought into our marriage. I was in my early twenties, married with three lovely children. I did my reading late at night after all have gone to bed. One night I came up a passage of scripture in the Book and could not go further. I was so impressed with the message. It talked of planting a seed and nourishing it so it could grow. I went into a field near my home, and knelt and prayed to the Father if what is was feeling and seeking was the truth and the right thing for me to to. Rest is history. About nine months later I joined the Church of Jesus Christ having been given to know that the book and the church was Jesus Christs Church on the earth today. As I met with missionaries and they explained things to me quite often I felt like I already knew what they were discussing was right. I felt like I had come home. I spent many hours reading books about Joseph Smith, the person the Lord ask to form the Church, and after a time I knew that he was a Prophet of God, and if he was the Prophet God wanted to reorganize the Church, then the Book of Mormon was also true, and the Church is also the True church upon the earth. I have continued to read and study the doctrines of the Church all my life, and find that there is common thread that leads me to believe that every teaching leads to one whole and all ties together like a jigsaw puzzle, which leads us all back to our Father in Heaven. Jesus Christ being the corner stone of our religion. I know Jesus Christ lives and directs our current Prophet, and we by repenting of our sins can return to live with our Father in Heaven some day.

How I live my faith

I joined the church at 24 and from then on till today I have been actively involved in the church functions. I have served in all the youth programs of the church as a leader including Scout Master, Cub Master and as a teacher for early morning seminary both boys and girls. Teacher in all the boys programs of the church, including shadow leadership for the younger youth. Coached ball teams both for the city and Church including softball, basket ball, and soccer. I have served in many positions of leadership, both on a ward level and a stake level, many in leadership positions. I have served four missions for the church doing missionary service as well as financial service for wards and missions. One mission was working in the churches office building as a construction finance missionary approving costs and making payments on Temples being built as well as meeting houses. I have served as a temple worker in two different temples of the church. One of the most rewarding church service I have been involved in. I have spent many hours indexing ancestors name, identifying them so they can be digitized and more easily for people to identify their ancestors. As an 79 year old person I have been accepted again to serve a mission for the church again doing finances for a mission office of the church. Great experience as I have done this before and look forward to working with the 18 to 21 year old missionaries of the church.
