Hi I'm Nick Smith

I'm a top student. I love programming. I love music. I love learning. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

While I was born in Illinois, Colorado is where I grew up and is where I call home. I love to enjoy the beautiful mountains here through hiking, camping, boating, skiing, tennis, and more, but I also spend a fair amount of time at home practicing piano, and trying to pick up new skills as well. Be it crochet or car repair, I love to learn anything and everything, and am always willing to try new things. I recently graduated from high school and was third in my class. I will not be attending college for another two years, however, because I will instead be dedicating those two years to serving Jesus Christ as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I am super excited for that.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons why I continue to live the Mormon faith. Part of it is logical. Having read the Book of Mormon, it just doesn't make sense that a boy as young and uneducated as Joseph Smith could have made it up, so it had to be by the gift and power of God that it came to be. There's more to it than just that, though. I live the Mormon teachings because I have received a witness that they are true from the Holy Ghost and I have seen the blessings in my life that have come as I have lived them, which has just reinforced that witness. I love this church. I love this gospel. I love the fact that I can be with my family forever and that someday, when I find a wife, I can be with her for time and all eternity. I love the fact that we do baptisms for the dead, so those who have never even heard of Christ still have a chance. Our beliefs are different from many other religions and many find them strange, but to me they are quite wonderful.

How I live my faith

As I mentioned in the other section, I will be serving as a missionary for two years, and I'll be honest, I used to be very scared to serve as a missionary because I'm not very comfortable talking to people and my words often get turned to mush when I am nervous. I know, however, that as I try my best and do what's right, God will help me be an effective teacher, so I made the decision to serve even despite my concerns. Aside from this major decision in my life, I try to live my faith in every day activities. I try to keep God's commandments even when others around me aren't. I pray, read from scriptures, and write in my journal every day. I try to "let [my] light so shine before men, that they may see [my] good works, and glorify [my] Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).
