Hi I'm Porter

I'm from Oklahoma. I currently serve as a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Howdy! I'm Porter. I'm currently serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have quite a few hobbies! As far as sports go, cross-country, soccer and basketball are my pick of choice. My other hobbies include hiking, hunting and fishing. There's something I find soothing about being in the great outdoors that I seemingly can't get enough of. I recently graduated from high school and once I return from my mission I plan on attending college!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons. The Book of Mormon brings peace to my life in times of anguish and sorrow. I know that the commandments and standards of the gospel will always bring me happiness so long as I abide by them. Whenever I make mistakes, as we all do, I can repent through The Atonement because Jesus Christ suffered for us and understands all that we undergo. I love this gospel and all the many blessings it brings into my life, as long as I do my part(living by the commandments, paying my tithing, etc.). Not only does it bless me, but also my family, friends, and all those I interact with.

How I live my faith

Although there are many ways to "live your faith", the gospel principle that I find most peace with is charity. Jesus Christ was the most perfect and divine example of this, and through serving others we can have and feel His Spirit with us. These acts of service by no means have to be large. Something as simple as bringing in someone's trash can or raking leaves invites the spirit to not only the individual being served, but the person performing the service as well. Through acts of charity, we are able to become closer to Him.
