Hi I'm Sharon

I am a 70 year old woman whose husband has died. I am learning to live alone. I am slowly finding my way. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of 6 children. Two boys and four girls. They are all grown and have wonderful spouses and children. My grandchildren have been such a joy in my life. I see them often. I love to write them letters and they love to receive them. I love to cook, sew, garden and can. After a divorce I went back to college. As a single mother of four girls I managed to become a college graduate at the age of 40! I have lived in California and Utah. I enjoy many things about California and visit my children there often. But my real love is the Bookcliffs of southeastern Utah. It is where I feel like I am home. There is a quiet majesty and reverence in the land. I feel at peace there .

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in a small Mormon community. I was baptized at the age of 8. We lived on a farm 15 miles from town. Because my parents were not interested in attending church I did not go either. When I was 13 we moved into town. Two young women from the church approached me and asked me if I wanted to go to a youth activity with them. My conversion to the Mormon church had begun. The Gospel of Jesus Christ helped me through my life. It helped me raise my children to be good citizens, good people and good sons and daughters of God. It helped me bury children. It helped me survive and eventually get out of an abusive marriage. It helped me as a single mother. It helped me through years of college. He cared for me and helped me every step of the way. He helped me care for aging parents. He helped me as I buried my husband. My life has not been without troubles. No life is. But throughout my life I have found comfort and solace knowing that my Heavenly Father, who loves me and knows me by name, is there. I have found great peace and joy in my life with Him at my side. The miracles I have seen in my life, the tender mercies , all have carried me. Oh, how I love my Savior. I am thankful every day that I draw breath for His church that has been restored on the earth today. For a living prophet, who like prophets of old, is here on the earth to give us divine guidance. I know that my Savior loves me.

How I live my faith

I live in a small community that is struggling to survive. It is a community that is fast becoming one of many elderly and frail citizens. I serve as a cook at the local Senior center. I prepare and deliver meals to many of them. It is truly a labor of love. I also try to be as involved as I can be in the community. Attending activities as a show of support. I always try to look around me and see who needs what. I am an avid cookie baker and I often take cookies to cheer someone up. I feel that it is my responsibility to do all I can to help my brothers and sisters navigate life here on earth. Everyone is struggling in some way. Everyone can use encouragement and kind words. God has been so good to me throughout my life. I want to be his faithful daughter in all things.
