Hi I'm Wesley Newman

I grew up in Ogden, Utah. I graduated from high school in May of 2017. I just received a mission call. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have my mission call and I graduated High School in May. I am the youngest of seven children. I like to play sports, exercise, read, and do things with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family with 6 older siblings. The Mormon Church was just my way of life for much of my childhood. In my situation, some might think I just went along with my family, and that is why I'm a Mormon. In a way, this is partially true. For a big part of my childhood I just was, because they were, just did, because they did. However, as I grew up, it changed. Today, I have a testimony of Jesus Christ and his gospel that is completely my own. My siblings and parents have been amazing examples to me, and I am grateful for them, and for how I grew up, but my family is not the foundation of the faith I now have. My faith is in Christ. My foundation is in him, his gospel, and my loving Heavenly Father. I have prayed to my Father in Heaven to know that this church is true, and I know that it is. I have felt the spirit testify it to me. My family and those I've grown up with gave me the setting where I learned the gospel, but they are not the reason for my belief in it. Faith in Christ was the hope that drove me, and it grew into the testimony I now hold dear. I know that this church is true. It is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It gives direction, and the joy and fulfillment of this church are eternal. I know that I will live again after I die. Death is not the end. I know that I can build a family, and live with them forever through the sacred blessings of the temple. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. He saw God the Father, and Jesus Christ. He brought back the fullness of Christ's church and restored to the earth the Priesthood Power of God. He translated the Book of Mormon, which testifies of Christ and truly is the word of God. We have a prophet today, Thomas S. Monson, who leads and guides by revelation from God. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for the sins of the world. He suffered so that I can be clean. I know that he lives. I know that God lives, he is my Loving heavenly father, who listens to my prayers. This is why I am a Mormon

How I live my faith

I live my faith by constantly striving to do what is right in the sight of God. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints holds the complete doctrine of Christ's Gospel, and I live by its teachings. I pray to a Heavenly Father who knows me and loves me. I read and study the scriptures, which I know to be the word of God. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. The power and spirit that it carries are undeniable to me. I've served in leadership positions in the church involved with planning various activities, teaching lessons, and conducting meetings. I've worked a lot with other youth's in our ward and I've built lasting friendships. Living my faith, I strive to serve others as I know Christ would, because I know that true joy comes from Christ-like living, with an outward mindset. I live my faith by continually trying to follow God's commandments. I will serve a 2 year mission in Africa because of my faith in this church. I know that with the Lord's help, and the strengthening power of the spirit, I can do hard things. I can learn and progress to be the man I know I should be, through the Gospel of Christ. I am working hard to prepare for my mission, and working hard to abide by the example of Christ. This is how I have, and will continue to live my faith.
