Hi I'm Damon

I grew up on a small ranch in Canada. I am serving a mission in Melbourne, Australia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a ranch in Southern Alberta. I love the land and want to preserve it. I enjoy school. I participated in our school archery team as well as the cross country running team. I was a member of my high schools band and jazz band and enjoy playing music. I also enjoy reading, carving, sketching, hiking, fishing, and camping. I have four younger siblings and I enjoy spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church with both of my parents being members. I was baptized when I was eight years old. I still look back to that day as one of the times that I have felt the most joy and it is one of the experiences which help me to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I have had many experiences when I have prayed for help and have received answers to my questions and help when I needed it. I know that God has restored his church to the earth; I know that he loves us and wants us to be able to return and live with him again. I know that Jesus Christ came to this earth to suffer for our sins so that we can repent and be able to live with God again. Because I know this I will continue to serve him and try my best to keep his commandments.

How I live my faith

I love to come to church. I have been a home teacher (church member who visits other members to help them and to share a short gospel message) since I was 14. I served as a family history consultant for a few years and love to learn and teach others about discovering their ancestors. I have received a call to go on a mission and am serving in Melbourne, Australia.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Damon
Mormons are not required to serve missions. It is recommended that young men serve and young women are very welcome to serve. Generally missionaries begin when we are 18 or 19 years old - before we have family responsibilities. Retired couples can also serve missions. Show more Show less
