Hi I'm Luis G

I am an eternal learner. I love Californian sunsets. I am a mormon.

About Me

Coming from a large family, I have a thorough appreciation of music! My family likes to make lots of noise and my sisters are very talented singers. Most of my free time is spent around or being involved in music. And also through my family, I have a huge appreciation of silence! Some of my favorite moments are ones where I can quietly contemplate; especially when I'm outdoors taking in the views the great earth has to give. I'm currently learning to better share my favorite moments with the many people I am grateful I can call my friends!

Why I am a Mormon

I have always wanted to be a "good person". In High School and in College, I made sure to join one or more Community Service organizations. At one point in my life, I wasn't sure if being a Mormon was for me, so I left. During that time I searched high and low for good people and good examples and what it meant to be a "good person." After many years, I came to seriously ask in my heart "how can I do the most good in the world?" And funny enough the answer lead me straight back to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Gandhi stated, "You must be the change you want to see in the world." Mother Teresa stated, "If you want to change the world, go home and love your family." And I found that all these teachings and more are present in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I found that Jesus Christ was the most perfect example of love and devotion to our human and spiritual family. All I have to do is follow Jesus Christ example and follow his simple commandments and I'm guaranteed to be a better person than I was yesterday. I feel like I love better, I serve better, I am more grateful, I am more at peace than I have ever been. And the love and peace it continues to grow! I am so grateful to have this Gospel in my life, I can't imagine my life being this fulfilled without it. And I know Heavenly Father can't imagine a life without his sons and daughters living with him, and so he sent his only begotten son-Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I currently serve in not just one but two(!) local positions in the Church of Jesus Christ. I help run Sunday School and support all the teachers who give their service teaching the members about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I also serve as a leader of our young men in the Young Single Adult congregation (ages 18-30). It includes being not just an example but helping young men to be the hands and eyes of the Savior through service, outreach, and just being great friends to each other. I always try to find ways to be of service not just in the Church but outside as well, wherever I go.

What is faith?

Luis G
Faith is the action in doing Doing what you feel to be true without knowing anything else. It's probably the most invigorating action and feeling you can have. I recommend it. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Luis G
In any capacity we are "anxious to bless the whole human race". In our own lives and through our donations to the Church we try to lend a hand to anyone who might or even might not need it no matter their situation or background. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Luis G
I have found that we only truly benefit and grow from things we do out of our own free will without expectation of reward. I am actually grateful to know that I will never get paid for any service that I do for the Church! Show more Show less
