Hi I'm Porter

I was raised a member of the church in Idaho. I served a few callings in my ward. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in Idaho. I'm bigger built and tend to be seen whenever I enter the room. I like hard work and relaxing times at home. I enjoy simple things like food, family, music, and anything that requires physical strength. I was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and am preparing to serve a full time mission in the Las Vegas Nevada.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised in this church, I found myself wanting to discover the truth on my own terms by my own merits. My parents both had testimonies, but I needed to find out for myself. I needed to procure my own understanding and testimony. So in my early teenage years I read the Book of Mormon for myself and prayed to Heavenly Father if it was true or not. I got my answer and that was the real turning point for me. In other occasions in my life I learned what it means to repent and how to truly take hold of the Atonement and understand the blessings that come with living a clean life. I learned that Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ care for all people of all nations and heritages. We are all his children, and I found myself wanting to be the child he needs me to be. Whether I live up to that fully or not is between me and the Lord, but I know that if I diligently seek to be more Christlike and do the good work that he would have me do, that all will be well and all good blessings will be poured out. This does not just go for me, but for all who wish to know the truth for themselves and to take upon them the name of Christ and obtain Eternal Happiness.

How I live my faith

Growing up in a smaller area I was called to be either president or counselor of the Deacons, Teachers, and Priests quorum growing up. For a short while I helped out with some family history work at the local Family History Center, but only briefly. I home teach at least monthly with my Chilean neighbor, and we both enjoy it greatly. Every other Sunday I also help out my dad take the sacrament to those in need at their homes. I try my best in my personal time to read and study the scriptures daily as well as pray often.
