Hi I'm Shaunee

I'm a college student, a dreamer, daughter, sister, lover of nature, music, and all things creative and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the fourth child out of eight children, being raised by a single mother. I grew up in the gospel but my family didn't attend church till I was 9 years old. Growing up without a father created some trials within myself and my family, but helped us grow into the strong, caring people we are today. I'm a college student majoring in Child Development (Which took some time choosing this major). I love working with children and helping them learn and find passions. I love to hike (pretty much everything that involves being in the outdoors), sing, paint, draw, create and dream up new ideas and goals! Currently working on a business project and hopefully will grow more ideas to create more projects in the future. I am Hispanic (being Mexican, Puerto Rican and Panamanian) and loving it! I have a strong connection with music, believing that music can speak to the soul and express every emotion. I grew up listening to all types of music and with every chance I got. It can express things you can't do with words alone. As a teen, I believed that I needed to find the desire on my own to attend church. With two years of prayer and pondering I decided that this was the true church and from that day on I devoted my life to the Gospel and through many trials grew a strong testimony of the Lord, our Prophets and the Book Of Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I need the Lord just as much as he needs me. As a young girl I would look around and not up. I questioned my worth. "The Church doesn't need me. The Lord doesn't need me. Everyone will be just fine without me in the church," I would say. But as time passed all I felt was emptiness. I started to question the meaning of my own life and where I was heading. Where was I going? What are my plans? What should I do? I began to pray about it. Then, I got an answer. I need to the Lord as much as he needs me! After that I went to church everyday and step by step I began to strengthen my testimony. The Lord gives me worth, he gives me strength, he helps me through trials and tribulation. Even when I stumble or may fall from the right path, He never let's me go and because of that I come right back up! I always feel loved, because I know that he loves me so dearly. He is my dear beloved Father and he wants the very best for me and all of us. He sent our Brother, Jesus Christ, so we can go back to him again. To know that we can't even comprehend His love for us, is unimaginable! And I know with a surety that he does love each and everyone of us. He gave us a purpose and a plan and he wants us to be with Him again and if I live a Christ Centered life, I can achieve anything. That's why I'm a Mormon. Because I know this path will lead me back to Him. To my Father and my beloved Brother who sacrificed himself for not only me but all of us. This will forever be my path to happiness.

How I live my faith

Charity & Kindness. Those are my two favorite words and words I strive to live by. I strive to be kind to all people! That's right..ALL! And without charity who are we? Being a ward missionary and a member I believe these are attributes that we should strengthen. As a ward missionary I try to devote time and effort to visit members and non members alike and get to know them, invite them to activities and help or give service to anyone who needs it. Just be a friend. Say hello. Give a compliment. Serve who ever may need a helping hand. No matter what background, characteristics, skills, disabilities and/or attributes a person might have, I try to always make them feel welcomed with a smile, kindness and an opened heart. Be a friend, be kind and give to others.
