Hi I'm Debbie

I grew up in Montana and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a CPA. I sometime need to work long hours but I love making time to volunteer in the community. I help with many things such as Relay for Life, the homeless shelter, the symphony, marathons and races and many downtown events. I am a single so I like to spend time with friends and do activities such as game and movie nights. I also am involved in the self reliance program because I feel it really helps people get going in the right direction. My favorite authors is Mary Higgins Clark and Robin Cook. I like mysteries.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the church. As a child, I took the opinions of my family and avoided the Mormon missionaries. In my senior year of high school I was looking for something more in life. I knew that life was not about a little joy and lots of sorrow and then you die. See, that was my perspective on life-lots of sorrow and a little joy. I remember thinking about two of my friends who were Mormon and how they had something different. I wanted that difference so I started taking the missionary discussions. From the beginning I know the gospel was true. It is hard to put into words how I knew, but I just did. In my soul the spirit told me. I was baptized before I graduated high school. Three years later I serve a mission in the Dominican Republic for 18 months. It was a great experience to teach people what was dear to me and to learn about a beautiful culture. Today I would say there is a lot more joy than sorrow in my life. We have the ability to determine our reaction to the things that happen to us. I know the gospel give me a great appreciation for this life. This life is a time to learn and grow. When we die, it is not the end, there is more to come. It give more meaning to this life and a desire to learn more and be more like Christ.

How I live my faith

Recently I got called as the adult Sunday School teacher. I admit I was a little nervous about the calling but prior to the calling I had asked the Lord to help me read the lessons before church so I could learn more, so I guess he thought I was asking to teach :) It as truly been wonderful. I know I am not perfect up there but I think the class should be a collaboration and we all teach each other. Everyone seems to like it and we are all learning which is the point. At work, I try to be an example. I try to remember how I would want to be treated and treat other's the same way. I try to help people improve and grow. I admit when I fail to do something so there is not blame game. Because at work you really can not talk religion unless your co-worker asks, I try to be a good example and have the light of Christ so they can see something a little different about me.
