Hi I'm Stephanie

I'm from Oregon! I'm perseverant, musical, and I'm a twin. I'm a current missionary as of September 2017, and I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I love music! I play the piano, flute, piccolo, alto flute, and the ukulele. I have a twin, a 14 year old sister, a 10 year old brother, and a 6 year old brother. I love travelling and am a bit of a thrill seeker, as long as it's not too dangerous ;). For now, I am a flute performance major. That may change after my mission, but I do love playing instruments, especially the piccolo! I love to dance as well, especially Latin dance and swing. I also have a passion for medicine, especially mental and physical disabilities of all sorts. Math and science are absolutely fascinating to me, and I'm a grammar freak. So, I'm a bit of a nerd and a smarty pants. I really, really enjoy Greek gyros, seafood, and Mexican food. I'm also a hugger and want to be your friend.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since birth. But unlike some who feel religion being forced upon them and fall away, I've come to the knowledge of its truth and embraced it because I know it is the only way back to Heavenly Father. I know that in order to make it back to live Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, I need to make covenants, or two way promises, with Heavenly Father. When I keep and renew the covenants I make, beginning with striving to be like Jesus Christ, taking His name upon me, and keeping His commandments, I receive blessings from Heavenly Father. One of those blessings is eternal life. I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is true. The Restoration happened through Joseph Smith, who is a prophet, and the Lord's truths were restored in fullness in this church. I know that when we pray, Heavenly Father hears our prayers and He answers them at the moment we need it the absolute most. I know that Jesus Christ is my savior and wants to help me get back to Heavenly Father. He wants that for you too, I promise. Even though we are not perfect, we can still live with Heavenly Father again because of the atonement. I know that Christ suffered for our sins and afflictions so that not only can we live with Heavenly Father again, but we don't have to pull through this life's trials alone. Our main goal while we're on this earth is to learn through our hardships and become like God. Then, through our hard work, we can live with Heavenly Father again. The plan is centered on our salvation. This is why I'm a Mormon!

How I live my faith

As for right now, I don't have an official calling in the ward. I have, however, been given an assignment to help out in the nursery. There is such a special spirit in there because these young children remember the preexistence better than we do; the veil of forgetfulness is thin! I attend ward activities and church and strive to read my scriptures every night and pray night and day. I have been called to serve as a full time missionary in the Mexico, Cancun mission! I leave on August 21, 2017. I don't remember a time when I didn't want to learn Spanish. Ever since I was a toddler, I always asked my mom how to say things in Spanish, soaking up words and rules that she taught me. In the back of my head, I knew that someday, I would speak this language fluently. I took Spanish all through high school. I was that kid who put tenses together to figure out new ones before we even learned them in class. During this time, I realized that the Lord gave me a gift in this language and that He was probably preparing me to teach his sons and daughters in the Spanish language. I was absolutely correct! I look forward to departing, learning the language better, becoming accustomed to another culture and climate, and learning how to feel the spirit better, how to be responsible, and how to teach. I'm excited to grow in physical and spiritual things.
