Hi I'm John

I love Jesus Christ. I love my family (wife, three children, and one foster child.) I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a civil engineer, a father of 3, a foster-dad to 1. I've planted over 43 fruit trees in my suburban-sized front and back yard, including such interesting plants as paw-paws, artic kiwis, and service berries.

Why I am a Mormon

While a child, I remember singing "I'm trying to be like Jesus" in our church class for children. I felt then a peaceful feeling and thought, "this must be that Holy Ghost everyone keeps talking about." What a blessing to have felt God's love at an early age. I have felt His love and His sweet Spirit again and again throughout my life as I've grown closer to Him while reading the Bible and the Book of Mormon, while praying, and while serving others.

How I live my faith

At 19 years old I served a 2-year mission to Romania. There I was able to talk to people who had grown up under the oppression of an atheist, Communist government. Because their parents were too scared to discuss religion, these people had only heard about God in whispers from their grandparents. By the time I arrived, Communism had fallen, but the people that grew up in its shadow had many unanswered questions. It was my joy to teach people how to pray and to listen to them pray for the very first time. I also taught English classes and did other service for the people.
