Hi I'm Nathan

I'm a new high school graduate, now called to serve. I love to sing, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

From a young age I looked up to my older two sisters and the activities that they participated in. I saw them on stage in musicals, in choirs, and more. When I entered high school, I soaked myself in the performing arts by being in countless theatre productions, multiple choirs, and by competing at the state level in acting competitions. Since I loved every moment of these activities, I did not stop them when I had to move to a new state for my senior year of high school. With the move, I began to branching out more in the performing arts, and have found myself singing barbershop. With high school over, my next phase of life takes me down to South America, where I will serve the people of Colombia and attend to their temporal and spiritual needs as a missionary.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family that was active and dedicated to the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This being said, I was never forced into the church, rather I was invited to. I reached a point in my life a few years back where I needed to decide what path I was going to take. I could follow after the teachings and philosophies of man that taught me there was no hidden meaning of life, or I could follow the teachings of a loving Heavenly Father. Over a period of time, as apposed to a single moment, I chose the latter option due to the inherit emptiness found in the first. Since then I have seen the fruits of my decision. I have felt a true remission of my sins through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I have seen improved character traits, and I have been further enlightened in my eternal potential as a son of God. It is through these fruits that I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ to be true for myself.

How I live my faith

Well, for me, every day starts with a prayer to our Heavenly Father, asking Him for the Gifts of the Spirit to abide with me, that I might be able to be a light and a blessing in the lives of those around me. As I go about my day, whether at school, at work, or with my family, I try to take a step back from my current limited and worldly view, and I try to see everyone around me as children of God that need to be loved and need to have the same spiritual nourishment as I do. No matter their outward appearance or attitude, they have the same divine potential and should be treated in accordance to what they can become through our Savior Jesus Christ. I try to be the nicest I can to everyone and I always try to make someone's day better. In addition to this, I take time out of my week to prepare spiritual lessons for Sunday classes I've been asked to teach along with families in our congregation I've been assigned to look after temporally and spiritually. Not many 18 year old boys in the world have duties like these.
