Hi I'm Sam

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and raised in Bountiful. I am preparing to serve a mission in Cincinnati, Ohio. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old. Growing up I enjoyed a variety of sports including wrestling, basketball, ultimate frisbee, and most recently rugby. I also participated in school musicals from 9th grade to 12th grade, and school choirs from 7th grade to college. I attended a local college from Fall 2016 until Spring 2017 on a full-tuition vocal scholarship. Along with singing, I also like to play the piano, ukulele, and guitar. Within the last couple years I have discovered a love of photography, and may pursue that upon returning home.

Why I am a Mormon

Initially, I was raised in this church because my parents attended, believed in, and followed it. For many years, I went because I was following the example of my parents and learning from them. But as I grew up, I had to start finding things out for myself and deciding if I actually believed what I had been taught as a boy, and start depending on what I felt instead of what my parents told me they felt. I have since gone to church on my own, read the Book of Mormon cover to cover by myself two times, and am continually amazed by the power and comfort I receive from living the life I know the Lord would want me to.

How I live my faith

I am currently preparing to serve a two year proselyting mission in Cincinnati, Ohio. But before that I served in various church positions. I have taught two separate classes to youth, one being 13-14 years old, the other 15-16. I have also taught in the home's of assigned families for the past 6 years. In the course of those 6 years, I have had the privilege of teaching 6 families and five different sets of roommates at my college ward.
