Hi I'm Alexis Bonholzer

I play soccer, softball, and basketball. I have been called to serve in the Germany Frankfurt mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have grown up in Southern Utah and as a result of that, I love hiking and being outdoors. I love to run, play soccer, softball, and basketball. I am called to serve in the Frankfurt Germany mission. When I return, I will attend Utah State University where I will major in English to pursue my dream of becoming a High School English Teacher.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the joy and comfort that the atonement of Jesus Christ brings to my life. I know that this is the true church. Learning about and taking part in the atonement has changed my life and helped me feel the love that God and Jesus Christ have for me. My favorite part of the gospel is knowing the Jesus Christ not only died for my sins but also for my pains and weaknesses. Whenever I feel tempted to do wrong, I remember how Christ suffered for and felt it. He knows how I feel and is able to comfort me through my temptations because of that. He also felt all of my pains and heartaches. When I got cut from the soccer team, he was there to comfort me because he had been through that for me. When my friends have betrayed me, he was there. He will always be there and it is so comforting to know that there is someone there who understands everything I'm going through all the time.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing the knowledge and joy that I get from the gospel with others. I fulfill my calling as a primary teacher. I get to teach the 5-6 year olds and I love it! I'm so grateful for that opportunity to share what I know with them! I also am about to embark on my mission which will enable me to share my testimony with the people of Frankfurt Germany. I love to talk about the gospel and I am very excited for this adventure.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Alexis Bonholzer
As a church, we love everyone! One of the major themes we focus on in our church is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Through the atonement, we are able to see how much God and Jesus Christ love all of us here on Earth. God sent Jesus Christ to suffer for us, our sins, our pains, and our weaknesses. Knowing the suffering He endured helps us get a glimpse of the immense love He has for us. In the LDS church, we try to exemplify that love. We do not condone homosexual behavior or same sex marriage but we do understand how hard it is to feel those things and not be accepted. We believe that a marriage between a man and woman is ordained of God. We believe that marriage can last into the eternities and to attain this awesome gift, we need to keep the commandments and expectations of the Lord. Every one of us has temptations and inclinations that we are drawn to based on our brain chemistry and the trials the Lord has placed in our lives. Homosexuality is one of these great trials. We understand the views of the world and we believe everyone has their own civil rights. Although society accepts same sex marriage, the Lord does not. Show more Show less
