Hi I'm Simon Hovinghoff

I grew up in White Salmon, Washington. In high school I became interested in metal working and welding. I am mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of two and I grew up moving around the state of Washington. I lived in Lyle Washington with both my grandparents and parents for the last 4 years of my school career. I will be going on my mission to Guatemala on September 6 2017. I will be sharing the gospel in the Spanish language. In my free time I like to go windsurfing, hiking, swimming. I also like to cook and bake. In High school I became very interested in engineering, welding, and fabrication. After I finish my mission I want to join the air force to design build and fly airplanes.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church and as a child the church was just a time to see friends, that I was forced to do as a kid. As I grew up in the church I grew in knowledge about the church it was not until I was about to turn in to a Deacon that I realized that I needed to gain my own testimony that was not dependent upon my parents. This was the first time I read the Book of Mormon, while reading this I stumbled upon 3 Ne. 14:7 which says that god will give to those who ask. So I asked if the church I was going to be called in to as a deacon. While at church I was called up to the podium and was sustained by the members it was at this time when I felt the love of every one there that I knew that this was the right church. I am now willing to go on a mission for this church because I know that this church is true and that I was called to the Guatemala city Mission by the living prophet. I also know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Each day I strive to stay worthy of the holy ghost and to become better each day. I try to I will be serving a mission in Guatemala as of September 6 2017. I was in a Mormon scout troop from the age of 10 to the age of 18. Each day I try to show that I am a Mormon by the way I act and the way I treat those around me. I strongly stand by the belief of families and I know that when the time is right I will get married in the temple, I also love all of my family members.
