Hi I'm Porter

I live in Utah. I love playing sports. Making people laugh is one of my favorite things. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love being outdoors and playing sports. Basketball is my favorite sport, but I love watching just about all kinds of sports. I will be attending college after I return home from my LDS Mission. I love being with friends and making people laugh, and I also enjoy spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I put in the work to know if it was true. I was born in the Church, so it has been something I have always known. When I was 15, I decided it was time for me to find out if this Church was true on my own. I read the Book of Mormon and followed the counsel from the Prophet and his Apostles from General Conference, and I did lots of praying. I prayed and prayed for a matter of months, earnestly asking for this answer. I had never wanted anything more. My answer came when I went on "Trek". Trek is where some of the nearby youth of the Church meet together and reenact the trip the pioneer's took into Utah. One night we were sitting in a meeting, and a man was there singing a song. The messages he was sharing invited the Holy Ghost, and I just had the overwhelming thoughts and feelings that this Church was indeed true. I also felt that God knew who I was, and I was important to Him. This experience is where my conversion started, but I am reminded that the Church is true all of the time. My conversion is continuous; it wasn't just a one time thing. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Lately, I have served in Church by teaching 8 and 9 year old children the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It has been such a cool experience for me, and these children taught me so much. I also have been called to serve a full-time mission, where I will preach the Gospel everyday to all I can find. It will be such a cool experience, and I am excited to serve the Lord.
