Hi I'm Melissa

I am a certified hospice and palliative care nurse, and I wrote a book on strengthening marriage. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, a mother and a grandmother of 25 grandchildren. I love to play with the grandchildren and it feeds my spirit to watch them play. I am a high soprano and I love to sing in groups and especially with my husband. I love gardening especially vegetables. I love learning. I am learning to play the piano, be a missionary and self publish books and audios. I am a presenter and love to share my knowledge and experience with others.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church but as a teenager and adult, I searched for the truth and a witness that the church was really true. As I studied the New Testament, I was given a witness that Jesus is truly the Christ and paid for my sins. I was told that if I would repent, I need not suffer. This has been very sacred to me. I then studied about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith and was given another witness that the Book of Mormon is truly another testament of Jesus Christ and the word of God. I also received a witness that Joseph Smith really was a prophet who restored the full gospel of Jesus Christ with all the necessary ordinances. I continue to live trying to be a better disciple of Jesus Christ. I love the story in Luke 7: 47-48 where Jesus tell the woman who had many sins that she was forgive because she loved much. I have committed sins and made many mistakes. This scripture give me hope of being forgiven. I love the Savior deeply and am so grateful for His willingness to forgive me.

How I live my faith

I love serving at church. I have learned to lead music. I especially love leading and singing with the children. I love to teach in Sunday School and have enjoyed my adult classes. I have been a president of the women's organization and it taught me the most about serving and loving others. I want to be a missionary. I want to show my love for the Savior. I believe in repentance and the atonement. I have been changing my life to become a better person with more love, less judgement and increased capacity to be of service. I know that Jesus is the Christ and I give out Book of Mormons with my testimony.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Melissa
In order to return and live with God, we needed help. The law states that no unclean can enter into God's presence. Because Jesus, who was perfect, suffered for our sins and paid the price to answer the demands of the law of justice, mercy can be offered to us if we repent of our sins and are baptized. I need Jesus help. I have made many mistakes and committed sins I deeply regret. I am grateful for His atonement. I can not save myself and I can't heal myself. I can't not heal those I have deeply hurt. I need the Savior and His healing to heal me and my loved ones. I am so grateful for His willingness to suffer for us, His brothers and sisters. I love Jesus. Knowing His sacrifice has paid for my sins, I have hope that I can do better every day and become the person I really want to be. I have hope that my loved ones will be healed and that we can live together eternally. Show more Show less
