Hi I'm Laura

I am from Arkansas. I love puns and dislike snakes. I'm a fulltime missionary in the Salt Lake City West Mission and i'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy greasy pizza and sunsets. Along with ladybugs, my niece and nephews, Harry Potter books, milkshakes for breakfast and awkward About Me questionnaires.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, although most of my family is inactive. I never really had a testimony or even had to question what I was being taught, until I was in high school. My friends would go to church and they would be learning about the LDS church in their lessons. I never had the answers to the questions they were asking. Eventually this escalated to students screaming at me and pushing in the hallways. This lead to me falling away from the church. I felt alone and angry. Years later I moved to another state in another small town expecting nothing to change. It did change! Because of the new change of scenery and change of people, I changed! Change and self evolution is so important and so amazing. My heart was opened and I was finally willing to ask God about this little blue book I grew up being told was the word of God. One night after church camp I bowed down at the foot of my bed and I prayed if it was true and everything my mother and other church leaders taught me were true. The response to my prayer was unlike any experience I had before. The Holy Ghost was so powerful in my childhood bedroom at the foot of my twin bed. I could not deny what heaven told me. The church is true and The Book of Mormon is true as well. My love and life has grown because of the gospel. I am such a happy person. All the time. I never knew I could truly be this happy. Before, I was looking for salvation in the wrong places. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I strive every single day to be more like our saviour Jesus Christ! I try to be more charitable, giving and show patience to others. The way I try to live my faith is simply trying to be the best version of myself. I lean on prayers and scriptures everyday to uplift me and inspire me. I'm a full time missionary and wear His name on my chest everywhere I go. I try to be worthy of my amazing calling and the responsibility of being a walking billboard to His great name. I try to see miracles in my life and feel His love for others everyday.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Laura
Of course! God is an unchanging and merciful, loving God. If our Father in Heaven gave His children in the past prophets, why not now? God loves us as much as He loves His children in Moses's time. He is merciful. He wants us to succeed and be happy. By doing so Heavenly Father gives us many instruments including scriptures and prophets, the mouthpiece of God. Show more Show less
