Hi I'm Mikayla

I am a hardworking, smart individual. I love the gospel and have always wanted to serve a mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love theatre and talking in different accents, but I also love all kinds of sports. I mostly play volleyball and basketball. I graduated with my Associates Degree in Science when I was only seventeen years of age. I grew up with three older brothers so I don't mind working hard and getting my hands dirty. I am hardworking and dedicated. I like to try things new and when I am put to do something I will do what I can to go above and beyond. I play the guitar and the Ukulele, but I taught myself everything I know. I love to write my own music and songs. I can't wait to be able to serve a mission. I have been wanting to serve since I was six and learned what a missionary was. I am so glad to have this opportunity.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I love the feeling the gospel gives me. My parents raised me in this religion. My father was a convert and my mother was raised in the gospel. All growing up I was told this church was true and for a long time that's all I needed. However, your told that if you want to find the truth you need to ask for yourself. So that is exactly what I did. I read the Book of Mormon with real intent and the question in my heart, was this true? I believed it was. I saw as each one of my three older brothers served their missions and did things that they wouldn't have done if they didn't fully believe in the gospel. I watched as they tried to share what they knew with others, as they tried to let others feel the joy and happiness they felt. I watched as they got spit on, they got attacked both physically and verbally. I watched as they go ridiculed and laughed at. However, through this all, I watched as they kept going, kept trying to share the gospel because they wanted to show others the joy they have in their life.

How I live my faith

I loved to help others. I would teach the young girls volleyball and basketball. The goal wasn't to constantly win any games we played, but it was to learn new skills and to have fun, and if by chance we did win, it gave the girls a good feeling. I would help special needs kids in the ward to be able to feel like they are loved and wanted along with all the other children. I would teach them lessons and play games with them, when they couldn't play the games or do the things other people were doing. I planned activities for the youth in the community every Tuesday and I would plan activities for the young adults in the community for every Monday. I would also help plan and make a meal after church for whats called a munch and mingle on some Sundays. I would also visit other women in the community to see how they are doing and to see if they needed any help.

What is faith?

Faith is believing in something you can't see but know to be true. Faith is hard, because it takes a lot to believe in something you can't see. However, faith isn't just saying you believe in God. Faith is trusting to know that when you rely on God and ask for His help that He will be there for you. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ. That means that it testifies of Christ, just like the Bible does, but it gives us more clarification. Imagine a circle. There are many ways to draw a line through that circle. You can draw it vertically, horizontally, diagonally. You can draw it perpendicular to other lines or parallel. You can draw an infinite number of lines through that little circle. That is how you can interpret the Bible. Everybody thinks different different things when they read the Bible. However, when you put two circles next to each other, the Book of Mormon and the Bible, you can only draw one line through the circles where it hits both of them through the center. The Book of Mormon doesn't contradict the Bible, but give us more understanding and answers to the questions that we might have. Show more Show less
