Hi I'm Jared Garlick

I grew up in College Station, Texas. I love sports, music, and spending time with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Norway for 2 years! I grew up in Texas with loving parents and five siblings who were good examples to me of righteous living and happiness. I quickly learned what it meant to be Texan. Growing up, every season brought with it a new sport for me to try out, and I fell in love with competition and self-improvement. I spend my time writing and playing music on the guitar and piano, singing in my Church’s choir, reading books, performing statistics research, and spending time with my family. I love camping and hiking, and have developed a love for the outdoors that I hope to have forever. I love to play board games, collect baseball cards, and enjoy juggling. This really is such a wonderful life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the way that living this Gospel has changed the way I live. When I began to learn about Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for me--for everybody--I learned that He could take away my sins and that I could be redeemed. Every single time I turn to Jesus Christ and seek forgiveness, I truly feel that He is there and that He loves me. I am a Mormon because I believe that God calls Prophets to reveal His will to His children on Earth, and that he has called a Prophet in our day. I know that God called Joseph Smith as a Prophet to restore the Everlasting Gospel onto the Earth, so that His children could experience all the blessings that He has in store for them. Thomas S. Monson is a living Prophet on the Earth today, and I know that he and all the other Apostles are Special Witnesses of Jesus Christ. I have seen them speak, I have heard their words, I have felt their love; they are called of God to direct His work on the Earth today. I am a Mormon because no where else do I feel the amount of love and happiness that I feel when applying the church's teachings. I believe that families are eternal, and that is something I am immensely grateful for. Without this knowledge and all the other blessings I have received from living my faith, I would be nothing. With this knowledge and with the assurance of a brighter future, I have everything I will ever need.

How I live my faith

I live my faith my attending my church and youth group meetings every week. I have also attended seminary for the past four years, it was basically a bible study every morning at 6:45 every day before school. This has been a tremendous blessing for me to start my day off in the scriptures and feeling unity with other youth who share my beliefs. I also live my faith by striving to reach out to others in need. I find joy in service and spending time with friends and family. To me, faith is a desire to consistently act in the way God and his Prophets have asked me to. I live my faith by trying every day to be better than I was yesterday.
