Hi I'm Randy

I was born in Utah, worked my career as an accountant (CPA) in California, am now retired and yes, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a home with parents that taught me by example. We were encouraged to be involved in a large variety of activities. I was involved in many sports and musical activities and enjoyed them, but was never skilled enough to go beyond the amateur level. I have continued to enjoy playing racquetball throughout my life and watching other sports from a distance. My parents also taught me to follow the Savior's example by teaching service, encouraging the asking of questions, reading the scriptures and church attendance. I served a Church mission in Northern England. I have recently retired from a career in accounting as a CPA, primarily working in a public accounting environment. I have a wife and seven children and currently 22 grandchildren. My wife and I love to travel. Many of our trips involve visiting our children and their families.

Why I am a Mormon

I have seen the effects of living the gospel of Jesus Christ in my own life as well as in the lives of others. I love that the scriptures teach us where we came from before this life, why we are here on the earth and where we go after we die. I find that as I try to live the teachings of Jesus it helps me to better understand my purpose in life and blesses me with peace and understanding. As a Mormon, I have the opportunity to serve others in a variety of ways. This teaches me compassion and provides me with the opportunity to help others. I find that my testimony of the Savior continues to grow over time. My parents taught me good principles and allowed me to learn and discover for myself. My mission helped to further increase my testimony of the Savior by seeing others change their lives to follow the Savior. I have gained a testimony for myself that Heavenly Father and Jesus live and that they came to Joseph Smith and helped him reestablish His church on the earth today. I have a testimony that we continue to have prophets on the earth today, just as there were in all ages when the Savior's church has been on the earth.

How I live my faith

I served a Church mission in Northern England and learned a lot about people during those two years of service. As our family was growing up we spent several times a week reading the scriptures together. We would use the scriptures to help our children learn to read as well as learn about the life of the Savior. Our children have commented many times about how much they enjoyed this experience (at least on most days). I continue to be involved in service in a variety of ways. Most recently, I have been working with the 12-18 year-old young men in our congregation. I have also been involved in community service and interfaith activities. A few years ago, the JustServe.org website was introduced by the Church. This website was created to match people with an interest in serving the community with nonprofit organizations that need volunteers. I have been involved for several years in the administration of this program. It has been very gratifying to see how well the website works and the opportunities it has provided people to serve in the community. I also enjoy reading the scriptures daily and find that it helps me to build faith in Jesus Christ.
