Hi I'm Tori

I'm a military brat, a sophomore in college, a soon-to-be missionary and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently studying to be a Special Education Teacher and am loving it so far! I live in Okinawa, Japan when I am not attending classes at BYU-Idaho. My family has lived in Oki for close to six years and we have really enjoyed our time on this little tropical island with the best people and culture! I love the beach and warm weather, so I am excited to start my next adventure as a missionary in the Florida, Tampa Mission. When I have free time I love to swim, go adventuring, and spend time with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that actively participates in the gospel. It has been such a blessing to be supported in learning and growing in my knowledge of the gospel by those who love me most. There have been ups and downs in my spiritual conversion, but deep down I have known all along that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I think the time when I began to form my own personal testimony of the gospel was when I moved to Japan. It was tough for me to leave the friends and surroundings that were familiar to me when I was 13, but,\ upon arriving to Okinawa and going to church that first Sunday I knew that I was going to be more than okay. The members at church were filled with the same love for Christ that I was used to and more important than anything else, the gospel was the same in Japan as it was in California. I was being taught the same doctrines and principles and I knew that a church that stays the same across the world must be the church that Jesus Christ himself established on earth. I have come to find for myself that Jesus Christ is my savior and that through His Atonement, I have the opportunity to be reunited with Him, my Heavenly Father, and my family when my time on earth is up. The happiness and blessings that I have received when faithful provide reason enough for me to want to always remain a member of Jesus Christ's church. I love the gospel, my Savior, the Holy Ghost that provides me constant companionship and guidance, and I can't wait to share this love with others while I serve the Lord in Florida.

How I live my faith

I think the best way to live by and show your faith is through your actions. Since most of my time growing up was spent at school where religion is a touchy subject in most cases, I always tried to live the things I learned at church and from my parents through the way I acted. My faith in Jesus Christ and the gospel is just as apparent through service, kindness, and modesty as it is when I share my beliefs verbally with those around me.
