Hi I'm Monica

I'm a college student studying to teach secondary math. I love going to exercise classes like Zumba and Body Combat. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an enthusiastic exerciser! Two years ago, I decided to be proactive about my overall health by participating in more exercise (and with a better attitude), and in doing so have discovered the joy that it can bring. My two favorite classes that I participate in are Zumba and Body Combat (which is aerobic boxing). Like most college students that are financially strapped, I enjoy free activities like hiking in the mountains, fishing, and reading. However, I also love to pass time shotgun shooting, sewing, and playing freeze tag with my nieces and nephews.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it brings me peace and joy. My Grandpa passed away this last February, which was very unexpected. That was a very difficult change in my life, however, my knowledge that families can be together forever, and my faith that I will be able to see my sweet Grandpa again gave me peace and hope that I would not have had otherwise. I'm also a Mormon because I know I need Jesus Christ in my life. His life and teachings bring me great happiness, and I know that his Atonement not only can redeem me from my sins, but also enable me to become a better person. I know that my goals to become better matter to Him, because in the past two years I have relied on His enabling power and the support of my family to change my attitude about exercise and healthy lifestyles and lose 100 pounds!

How I live my faith

I have the great opportunity and calling to serve the children of my ward each Sunday. I taught the 4 and 5 year-olds for the longest amount of time, and sometimes church felt more like a rodeo! However, in between my lessons on how to stay in chairs or reminders of when it is appropriate to talk about whose father shaved his chest, these children taught me many sweet lessons. The most important of these was that we have a Heavenly Father and that he loves us very much.
