Hi I'm Alyssa

I'm from Utah. I am attending Brigham Young University. Ohio Cincinnati Mission August 30th

About Me

I am a very adventurous and active person. I love sports and the outdoors. Growing up soccer was my passion, and I still love to play every chance I get. I also love music and often find myself playing the piano when I need to relieve some stress. I am currently attending BYU and love it there. It may get hard sometimes, but there is nothing more rewarding than seeing hard work pay off.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and was born into a family that was mostly all members. We would go to church together every week and I would learn all about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Throughout the years I started relying on my parents testimony less and less as I studied the gospel and its teachings for myself. Through many personal experiences and hours of study and prayer I found out for myself that this gospel is true. I prayed and I knew that I had a Father in Heaven who loved me very much. That understanding is the basis of my testimony, and is the reason that I live the way that I do. Every morning, before meals, and when I need comfort I pray. The first place I turn when I am in trouble is to God. He strengthens me and sends me comfort. Once I understood my relationship with my Father in Heaven my testimony grew and became very strong. I love the gospel and all of its teachings, and that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have held many callings in my church throughout my teenage years, but I was most recently a member of the family history committee in my ward. I was in a ward full of young single adults, so I tried to help people get excited about learning more about their ancestors. I also would index a lot and help digitize old documents and records. This helps others when they are researching their family histories. I have recently been called to serve as a missionary in the Ohio Cincinnati Mission. I leave at the end of August and will be serving for 18 months. I cannot wait to share the gospel and my testimony with the people of Ohio!

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Alyssa
No, Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith. We believe that he restored the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Earth after it was lost in the apostasy. We believe that he had a vision and saw Jesus Christ and God the Father. He was then directed about how to restore the church and was given special Priesthood keys. He became the first prophet of God in the latter days, but we do not worship him. Show more Show less
