Hi I'm Jacob

I've lived in 4 different countries. I'm a sports enthusiast. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Jacob and I have grown up in the church my whole life. Currently I am preparing to serve as a missionary in the coming months (I just graduated High School). I am from the United States but have spent much of my life living abroad in Australia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. For fun, I love to watch, play, and read about all kinds of sports. I like to write as well as learn about current events throughout the world.

Why I am a Mormon

Despite being born in the church, I really feel that I have chosen this life for myself. I am grateful to my parents for raising me on gospel principles, but as I have gotten older I have had to make my own decisions to continue to be an active member of the church. It's hard to explain all the reasons why I continue to follow in the faith, but a big reason is because of the understanding of life that I have because of it and because of the constant hope it brings. As a Mormon, you are not expected to be perfect. We teach that God acknowledges our imperfections and is not upset with us because of them. Instead, He reaches out to us and encourages us to be better than we are currently. As I discuss my beliefs with friends who are not Mormon, I have seen just how much knowledge of the purpose of life comes from being a member of the church. As a Mormon, I know that I came from living with my Father in Heaven as a spirit before this life. I was given a body and sent to live in a wonderful family, to experience life and the happiness and trials that come with it, to learn and to grow. I know that as I live faithfully and keep commitments to God, I can once again live with Him and my family forever. And that is because of the grace and love of Jesus Christ. Without Him, we could not accomplish these things. Nothing is possible without the Atonement of Jesus Christ. And that is why I strive each and every day to make Him proud and to live as He did. I encourage anyone who is questioning their faith or is struggling with something in their life to study the doctrines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This church is the only true and complete church of Jesus Christ. Your faith will increase and your understanding of life's purposes will grow infinitely. This church will bring you closer to Jesus Christ more than any other organization on this earth.

How I live my faith

As the only priest (16-18 years old) in my congregation, it is my responsibility to lead the rest of the youth who are younger than me. This includes teaching lessons, organizing activities, and assigning others to follow as well. I am the only Mormon in my grade, so I often talk about the church with my peers at school. Where I study, it is very popular for students to go out clubbing on the weekends. I choose not to drink or participate in those activities and because of this, many people have asked me to share more about my faith. I try to remember that for some people I meet, I may be the only member of the church they come in contact with, so it is important to try and be as Christ-like as possible.
