Hi I'm Elyse

I am a missionary in the Chile Osorno Mission. I love traveling, reading history books, and playing the piano. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a history and global studies major, currently attending college. I love running, playing soccer, and pretty much anything outdoors. I want to see the world! Traveling is my passion, and I love learning about different cultures, history, and foreign languages, and taking pictures.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church. I was lucky enough to have parents who taught me the gospel from a young age. So for me, there was never one moment where I was "converted" or decided to follow Christ. It was a series of moments, decisions, and realizations that led me to my own testimony. I am a Mormon today because I KNOW it's true. The Book of Mormon is holy scripture, and Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, who fulfilled his holy calling, blessing the inhabitants of the Earth with this sacred book. I am a Mormon because there is no other way that I can find joy in this life other than following my Savior Jesus Christ. He is the way to happiness and peace in this life and eternal life in the world to come! Although sometimes I have to stop on the path and catch my breath, or trials come that I think I can't endure, I continue on. Because this gospel is true. So what else could matter? I continue to follow Him because He died for me, and I am redeemed from death and sin, promised eternal life and endless happiness if I just love, serve, and follow Him. I know the truth, so how can I deny it?

How I live my faith

For me, faith is a daily decision. I have this strong faith in the gospel and my Savior, but I need to show it. I live my faith as I decide every day to read my scriptures, those nights when I kneel down and pray to my Father in Heaven, when I decide to share my testimony with my friends. I live my faith by the little things I do, the decisions to keep my covenants, and when I stand as a witness of Christ. It's only later that I realize my faith has grown brighter and brighter and others can see the light of Christ through me because of my decision to live it.
