Hi I'm Brenna

I'm a college student. I love to hike and travel. I'm an aspiring architect. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a freshman in college studying graphic design. In high school I was a sprinter on the track and field team (though not with any crazy sprinting talents, but I worked at it). I also played the clarinet in both concert and marching band. I didn't love band, but I enjoyed it enough to play for 8 years. I have always been interesting in home design and decorating so I want to be an architect and interior designer. I'm studying graphic design as a preliminary step towards a masters degree in architecture. I love reading (though I don't get around to reading as much now) and movies like Nacho Libre, Harry Potter, The Help, The Office, etc. I love hiking and especially remember a 3-day backpacking trip with my dad on the Appalachian Trail. I'm an east coast girl so I LOVE trees, little mountains, windy roads, and humidity.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church, however at a certain point you can't just go to church because its tradition. I knew I needed to know it was true for myself and my parents and church leaders encouraged me to do so as well. I feel that I have gradually, over many years from my childhood to today, come to really know that this church is true. In the past several years my faith has been tested and the doctrines and principle I learned stood firm. I am a Mormon because through this gospel I am given a greater view of life and our purpose on Earth. I am granted freedom of choice but also divine guidance to help me and protect me. Through Jesus Christ I know I am loved by God and His Son and that I can have a personal relationship with them. Christ's Atonement allows for mercy when I make mistakes and His grace enables me to improve and overcome, not only with sins, but also with weaknesses and trials. I have had many trials that I know I could not have done alone, but by living the principles of the gospel I have felt God and Christ's love and power in my life. I am a Mormon because through these experiences, I've come to know that the gospel is true and I love it.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday and have been involved with various assignments within my congregation. Two years in a row I helped plan and organize a multi-congregational summer camp for girls 12-18. I have served as a youth leader in my age groups as a teenager. I have also organized weekly activities for college students of my faith to just have short religious discussions and then fun activities. In high school I attended a daily morning scripture study class at my church with about 20 other teens my age. I found that this helped me learn more about my faith more and it helped me wake up and be prepared for the day at school.
