Hi I'm Laura Oviatt

I'm a Mormon. I've been called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

About Me

I'm from an extremely tiny town in the middle of no where Wyoming. I love all things outdoors: hiking, white water rafting, kayaking, cliff jumping, scuba diving, tubing, and repelling. I love to read and bake. I am a elementary education major at BYU. I have been called to serve a mission in the Oklahoma, Oklahoma City mission. I am so excited to serve the people there and spread my love for Jesus Christ and His gospel!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I really do know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's true church re-established on the earth today. Being a Mormon has been all I've ever known, and I really do believe that I have been lucky enough to always have a testimony that the church is true. Something within me has just always believed. However, I came to truly know without a doubt that the LDS church is Christ's true church when I came to truly understand that I was a daughter of God. The defining moment that shaped my own personal testimony of our true ipseity came during my first experience at the church camp Especially For Youth. Throughout the week, the camp often sings what is called the EFY Medley. This is a collection of the songs: Army of Helaman, As Sisters in Zion, and a sung version of the first line of the Young Women Theme. After a week of intense spiritual highs and constantly being reminded of how much God knows and loves me personally, I was struck with a realization of my divine lineage while singing the last verse of this glorious anthem for the final time that week. I finally came to a knowledge of what it truly meant to be “daughters of a Heavenly Father who loves us”, and got a beautiful glimpse at my celestial potential.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to represent Christ by the way I live my life. I try to look at others as He did, and treat them with the respect they deserve as children of God. I believe the best way to share our faith is to live consistently with what we know to be true.
