Hi I'm Jarom Hutson

I grew up in the Midwest (USA). I love sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am going to be a sophomore at BYU Provo. I am currently majoring in neuroscience with the hopes of becoming a surgeon so I can help others overcome problems with their physical health. I enjoy playing and watching sports, and in high school I played golf and basketball. Golf is my main sport as I would travel the country playing in tournaments. During my freshman year my intramural soccer team almost won the championship but we lost in PKs. I also enjoy playing disc golf. My friends from high school in Illinois really enjoy playing, so we will often play together while I am home. My biggest hobbies however deal with adventuring. I love climbing. It is so much fun! My friends and I while at BYU will often go on weekend camping trips to climb. I love to climb on real rock, but climbing in the gym is also fun as its a good way to practice and push yourself to get better. I also enjoy skiing. It's a good hobby to have during the winter in Utah as there is amazing skiing there.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because it is true. When I was younger I didn't really buy into the whole church concept; I just went because my parents went and that's what I was supposed to do. However, my experiences with my group of young men helped me see that the church is an amazing way to live one's life. You feel of the savior's guidance and love constantly. Going to BYU helped a lot too with becoming truly converted. The spirit there is so strong and you receive a constant testimony that this is Christ's true church. My religion classes helped open my eyes and read the Book of Mormon in a way I never have before. With these experiences and much prayer and study I know that this church is true and the Book of Mormon is a true book that testifies of Christ and his divinity that can help you in all aspects of your life.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by being an example to others. I focus on living the gospel and keeping the covenants I've made. By doing this I live a life of example to others that shows the joy and blessings the gospel of Jesus Christ brings. I have had callings in the church that have helped me improve my faith and help share it with others. I had the opportunity to oversee a group of young men my own age for several years. During this time I was able to lead them in service projects, developing one's own testimony, and drawing closer to Christ as a group. This experience helped me learn how to be a leader and invite others to participate in the richness of the church.
