Hi I'm Madison Okumura

I grew up in Sandy Utah. I was raised in the church. I served my mission in the Massachusetts Boston Mission. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I was raised in the church but my parents are both converts. My mom converted when she was 17 and then traveled to BYU to go to school. My parents got married and my dad joined the church 16 years after my parents were married. I was 13 when my dad converted and I was able to be sealed to my family for time and eternity. I never wanted to serve a mission because I was scared. I didn't want to pray about it because I was scared the answer was going to be yes. One day I had the impression to pray about a mission, so I did. It took about a week for me to get an answer. D&C 108 was my answer. When it was set in stone that I was going to serve I found out that I had to lose about 20 pounds before I could go. I was crushed! I because so close to the Lord to try and understand why this trial was given to me. I was able to lose the weight within a month and now I am serving in the Massachusetts Boston Mission and I could not be more excited and grateful for this gospel!

Why I am a Mormon

I love this gospel. I have gone through many different trials in my life, physical and emotional. I would not have been able to do any of it without the Lord's help. He has been my rock and I know that I can turn to Him for anything and I will always have peace and comfort. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love each and everyone of us so much. They want us to be happy and they are constantly looking out for us. Everything happens because the Lord has His hand in our lives. If we turn to Him we can understand better why things are happening to us. I love this gospel and it can and will make you so happy! It has made me so happy and a stronger person.

How I live my faith

I have had a few callings, I have been the Beehive President and the Mia Maid President where I was in charge of the girls in young women. I have also had the opportunity in college to be the Family History Indexer and work with family history work and help the YSA (young single adult) ward out. I also had the calling of Ward Missionary while I was in college. My job was to contact and reach out to less active or non members and invite them to activities.
