Hi I'm Denice

I'm a Mormon. I live in Utah. I am a homemaker, mother, grandmother and lover of life.

About Me

I come from a family of six children. Growing up I shared a bedroom with my two sisters. We might not of had a place to call our own but we sure had fun playing and doing projects together. In high school, I was inspired by my home economics teacher and knew that is what I wanted to be when I grew up. I love sewing, cooking, cross stitch, knitting and making things with my hands. After college, I taught cooking, sewing and teen living. I loved this time in my life. After a few years, my husband and I began a family of our own and I became a stay at home mom to five children. To help make ends meet I took on odd jobs - sewing, babysitting, and tutoring. I began working on a college campus in 1989 in the campus bookstore. It led to a fufilling career from which I recently retired. I love being in nature and thinking of all the wonderful things that Heavenly Father has done for my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when eight yeas old. I loved going to church with my mother and siblings. It seems like I have always known the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. My father hasn’t joined the church yet, but I have faith and hope in God’s plan for my family. I have raised five beautiful children and have encouraged them to love Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. Some of my children have stopped going to church. Keeping covenants has always been an important part of my life. I have faith in eternal families and rely on the doctrine that we can be together forever. I hope I've done all I can to teach my children what is truly important - that our Father in Heaven loves us. That His Son Jesus Christ came to the earth, atoned for our sins, died on the cross and was resurrected, enabling all of us to have the ability to do the same to rise again. I hope that they know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God, chosen to translate the Book of Mormon by the gift and power of God and to bring back to earth the Church of Jesus Christ, the Priesthood, the holy temple and all of the fullness of the gospel with its saving ordinances. A living prophet is on the earth. God lives and loves us. He provided us the Plan of Salvation. We are His children. The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ. Modern-day prophets and apostles lead us today in truth and righteousness. I am truly blessed. I have 5 amazing children, 5 wonderful grandchildren, and a husband that has given us a good home and a safe place to live.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through service to others. I love teaching and sharing the gospel with those I come in contact with. A priesthood blessing I received when I was 22 focused a lot on being an instrument in the hands of God. I know I will be led to those who I can serve. I have had many faith promoting experiences serving as a primary worker. The children teach us many ways to act and accept others. As a Relief Society president, I saw countless hours of selfless service performed by women. This service touched my life and made me realize more fully that “when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.”
