Hi I'm Brock Dowdle

I grew up in Southern California. I love singing, going to the beach, and spending time with my friends and family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the eldest of 5 children in my family, as well as the eldest grandchild on both sides of my family. I attend Brigham Young University as a undergraduate student and haven't officially declared a major yet. I really like music and singing. I participated in my high school's choir program all four years and had the amazing opportunity to sing in the BYU Men's Chorus. I also really enjoy going to the beach with my family and spending the afternoon in the sun. While I don't surf, I have a lot of fun boogie boarding in the ocean with my siblings. In high school, I wanted to stay busy, so I decided to engage in taking advantage of everything the school had to offer. Between playing soccer, taking AP classes, singing in the choir, writing for the newspaper, and being in student leadership, I found that I had a passion for constantly being involved. More than anything, however, I love talking to and getting to know people. I will be serving a mission for the church for two years, teaching and sharing with people the wonderful message of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I've chosen to be. Having grown up in the church since I was a child, I've had people tell me that I'm only a member of the church because I haven't known differently or because my family told me to. While being a member all my life and having family support have definitely been important in my life, that doesn't mean that I haven't had questions. I've still had to find out the truth for myself. I know plenty of people who grew up in the church and attended because their family told them to but ultimately stopped going because they didn't know for themselves. I've pondered, searched, and asked myself why I'm on this earth and what our purpose as people is here. I've wondered why God could let bad things happen to good people. I've seriously asked myself all of these questions and I've had to work to find my answers. But, nowhere else have I found a solace to my worries and questions than through the message of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. God is real. He spoke to prophets of old in the Bible and continues to speak to us today through our modern prophet. He also has communicated with mankind throughout the history of the world. The Book of Mormon shows us this and I'm a Mormon because I believe in this book. I have come to learn for myself of the truthfulness of the gospel through reading this book and praying to know if it's actually true, not because I was told to do it. I encourage anyone and everyone to read the words contained in this book. It's really a good read, I promise.

How I live my faith

The way I live my faith is through how I live my life. I try my best to live like Jesus Christ did, showing kindness and love for everyone that I meet. I believe that being optimistic, even when times look tough, is the best way to live life! In the church, I live my faith by willingly serving in the capacities I am assigned. Throughout my life, I have had the opportunity to be both the Senior Patrol Leader of our scout troop and a member of a youth committee to plan socially and spiritually enriching activities for the youth in our area. Through these service opportunities, I have been able to learn more about the love that Jesus Christ had for the people he taught and that he has for every single person on Earth.
