Hi I'm Kaylee

I'm from California. I run Cross Country. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I've been running Cross Country since seventh grade, and ran as a collegiate athlete at a University for two years. I'm taking a break for 18 months to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I grew up in Southern California, and I am the youngest of five children. I've completed two years of college and have decided to major in English. I love spending time with friends, being in nature, and listening to music. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, and I love anything silly or ridiculous.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I know that He does live, and that He loves us individually and personally. I have grown up in the church, but that is not why I choose to follow His gospel, or why I keep coming to church. I go to church and I live His gospel because it is the source of true happiness in my life. Reading the Book of Mormon, and rereading it often, has given me sincere and concrete direction and guidance in my life. It grounds me, and I feel the power of the Lord in my life from reading it. We truly are blessed as we keep the commandments and try each day to improve and become more like the Savior. Christ has stayed by my side and walked with me through my darkest moments, although I have left His side plenty of times. I love Him. I love His gospel, and I cannot deny that it is true. All I can give is my witness that He lives. I know that He has walked in our shoes and felt all that we have felt and will feel. I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father who has a plan for us, and wants us to come back to Him one day. I live this gospel because it makes sense, and it touches my heart and my spirit, and I believe it to be true. I have received peace during my most devastating moments as I cried out in prayer. I have felt love for others as I have tried to see them the way our Heavenly Father sees them. I have seen miracles happen on account of my faith and the faith of others as we have prayed and fasted for them. I know that the Lord lives, and that He is the Christ. I know that we can all feel peace because of His Atonement and the power of His love. I know that this life is not the end, but that there is an eternity for us to live. I choose to be a Mormon because my life has been so extraordinarily blessed from living this gospel, reading the Book of Mormon, and striving to become more like the Savior. I am a Mormon. I know it; I live it; I love it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my church meetings and striving to live my beliefs every day. At church I have served in a number ways, from leading my fellow youth, to planning camps, to organizing visiting teaching and service. I have taught lessons to the women in my college ward, and visited them to see how they were doing. I am currently preparing to serve a mission.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Kaylee
We come to know Heavenly Father by praying to Him. When you pray, you kneel and address Heavenly Father, and then speak to Him. You can talk to Him about things you are going through, or ask Him questions. If you want to know what He is like, there are a lot of great scriptures that talk about Him. Imagine a father here on earth, and what they are typically like. They love their children, and they want what is best for them. That's like our Heavenly Father, He is full of love, and He'll answer you in His own time and way if you sincerely reach out to Him in prayer. Keeping His commandments also helps in getting to know Heavenly Father. As we do His will, we live a life that is pleasing to Him, and He is able to let us feel His spirit more often. In my own experience, I have grown closer to Heavenly Father by humbly asking Him for help and guidance through prayer. I have kneeled down and expressed to Him the desires of my heart, the troubles going on in my life, and the frustrations I had. If you do this with all sincerity, I know that He will reach out to you, and you will come to know Him better. Show more Show less
