Hi I'm Sheila

With an honorable family, "goodly parents and noble ancestors", I pray I can become worthy of this immense privilege & blessing.

About Me

Since I was old enough to hold a pencil I have worked with genealogy. I have early memories of sitting at my grandparent’s house copying information from their records. Family history is one of the greatest loves of my life. I used to be called the “digger lady”. I’m really good at finding information and I am also a fairly good writer. I do, however, have a serious deficit in this work. While I can quickly and effectively gather and analyze, I am not very good at organizing and documenting my findings. My husband does genealogy. Fortunately, my shortcomings are in areas where he shines. I put energy into writing stories, etc. and he is very focused on documenting and also on actual temple work which we do together. I feel it is not so bad that I love to study and write about my ancestors. I just hope I can live long enough to get myself organized to a point where I can pass some useful information I’ve collected to another family member who is also interested in this great work. Also, I am a retired computer professional with specialties in software analysis and design.

Why I am a Mormon

There is nothing more important to human kind than the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Christ is deeply ingrained into my psyche. I was born into a family where all four sets of my great grandparents were “pioneer stock” ancestors. I am mindful of what they went through; and my goal is to live in such a way to bring honor to their great names.

How I live my faith

People are very important; and I do love people. However, I find I am more comfortable being surrounded by books than by people. I know I need to work on this. Part of my problem is that I sometimes create self-imposed isolation because of some minor health issues that make me feel somewhat self-conscious. I am very good with animals and babies. My husband and I loved working in the nursery.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Sheila
I am always impressed with the caliber and quality of all things Mormon. For example, when we build temples, nothing but the finest workmanship will do when building a house unto the Lord. Ornateness is not our style but quality is. Show more Show less
