Hi I'm Carly

I love making others happy. I am a university student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished my first year at college, at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, United States. I am a business major. I hope to one day use my degree to help others find joy in being active and creating bond with others. I want to work for a local Parks and Recreation department or at a YMCA. I love hiking, swimming, rock climbing, pretty much anything outdoors. I come from a large family, my mom was a convert and my dad a life-long member. I was born and raised in the LDS church.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints is His church on the Earth today. I have prayed about it, and have received an answer, I know that this is His church, that is is true, all of it. All of its doctrines are Christ's, as He set forth in ancient records, both in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. They are the word of God and work together in perfect harmony. I continue to follow His gospel, because I know the Lord called a modern day prophet, just as He has done throughout time, Joseph Smith. I know that the prophetic authority continued and that there is a prophet on the Earth today, who leads and guides this church, through his communication with God. I know that through having faith in Jesus Christ, being baptized, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end is the only way to return to live with God and Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because it is the church in which Priesthood authority, the power Christ gave to ancient prophets and to his own disciples, is alive and well. I know that I am in the church that has the power to deliver the saving ordinances, and that is the root of it all. I want to have eternal life in the kingdom of the Father, and that can only be done with the proper power and authority. I know I can be saved as I follow Christ's example of being baptized and receiving the Holy Ghost and following His commandments. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I strive daily to be a follower of Jesus Christ. I try to follow Christ's example and show kindness and love to friends and family, but more importantly, to strangers and acquaintances. In my Young Single Adult Ward, a local congregation comprised of adults 18-29 who are not married, I met so many people from different backgrounds. I was called as a visiting teacher, and along with another woman from the ward, I would visit and talk to other women in my ward. I would see how they were doing in life, with school, work, and their spiritual life. I gained strong connections with those women and loved serving them. I study my scriptures nearly every day, and pray to God, who I know answers and hears my prayers. In my scripture study I mark thoughts, feelings, and impressions I have in the margins of the book or in a notebook. I look back on these notes a lot, especially on days that I am struggling with life and its many trials. I love my scriptures, I love my Heavenly Father, and I love Jesus Christ.
