Hi I'm Sara

I grew up in Colorado. I love the outdoors, including backpacking. I am a freshman in college studying journalism. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Colorado doing things like backpacking, camping, hiking, and fishing. These things have taught me to love the outdoors and I find great peace when I am outside enjoying God's beautiful creations. I also love to read great books, which help me to understand myself and other people better. One of my favorite classics that I have read is Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky, which has taught me about the greatness of the individual and the human soul. I am currently a sophomore in college unsure what to study. I love literature and history and am enjoying classes in both of these subjects. One day I plan to become a journalist because I want to discover and write about truth and show this truth to the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to follow Christ. He is the only way to peace and true joy. He has given us the way to be saved from our sins, but we must come to Him and follow Him. This is His church, which He has given to us so that we could find direction in this life and know how to come to Him and follow Him. He has provided us with such great knowledge and power through His church that we do not need to be afraid, or lost in this world. I know that it is only by following Him that we can live with Him again after we die. He has shown us the way in His church to follow Him. I am so grateful to Him for leading me to this knowledge and truth. Without His influence, I would be lost, lonely, and afraid chained down by sorrow and my many mistakes. Through Him, however, I can find joy, hope, and comfort. He is everything to me and through His church I can find Him everyday and in everything.

How I live my faith

My faith is very important to me both at church and in my personal, everyday life. At church I was privileged to have the opportunity to teach others of my same age this past year. I had amazing experiences as I tried to teach them what God wanted me to and learned from all of their personal stories and experiences that they shared with me. As I taught others I came to better understand how God teaches all of us, individually and with great love. I also have the opportunity in my church to visit with other women every month and really talk to them and become friends with them. This has also taught me that God reaches out to us individually, one by one. In my personal life, I try to reach out to my friends and community through various service opportunities such as volunteering at our local soup kitchen and sewing hats and blankets for those in need. God has asked us to love one another and lift each other up, so I really strive to help those around me in my everyday life. Also, I have recently decided to serve the Lord for 18 months on a mission for my church and He has called me to serve in Nashville, Tennessee. This is an amazing opportunity for me to go serve others and teach them about my faith as a true disciple of Christ.
