Hi I'm Karen

I've been a Latter-Day Saint, Mormon, all my life. I was born Mormon, but I've learned for myself the doctrines of Jesus are true.

About Me

I love to hike! Especially in Yellowstone National Park. I love nature, the beauties that our Creator has made for us--there is nothing man can make that rivals this. One of my favorite quotes: "Perhaps nature is one way the Celestial calls out to the Christ within us to come home." That's how I feel hiking in Yellowstone, like I've come home. I am married to the kindest man in the world, and have been for 43 years. He still makes me laugh every day. We have 6 great children: 5 sons (yes, I've sat at alot of ball games, wrestling matches, boy-type stuff!) and one perfect daughter. God thought she was perfect too and took her home at 26. We have 20 AMAZING grandkids! who live all over the USA: MN, TX, UT, CA. So our travel is always to see some of them. They are the reward for not "killing" our children (smiley face here!!!!). I love to read! I find myself transported to wonderful lands, histories, cultures, personalities. I especially Love Jane Austen, and even enjoy "fan fiction" on her 200-yr old classics. But most of all I love to read the scriptures. I love reading and studying God's word. I know He loves me, and I feel that love in His words thru His ancient prophets. And because He loves us, He has given us modern scripture thru His prophets in this dispensation by way of the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. I am comforted, directed, guided, and blessed with joy as I read the word of God in Holy Scripture.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon, but I have been converted to the Lord Jesus Christ and His Church thru personal, sacred experiences. I have come to know thru the power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus Christ is my Savior, that He loves me, He knows me, and His Atonement was given in behalf of me and my follies, sins, and weaknesses. And because He loves me, He loves you too. And you can also know of the truth of His life and teachings. I am a Mormon because i read the scriptures daily and am a doer of His word. He promised that we can know of His words if we do what He teaches. I pray daily and have received answers, too personal and specific to be simply coincidence. I have experienced the power of the Holy Ghost in all the ways Jesus promised us, as Comforter, bringing things to my remembrance, Teacher, Testifier, and giving the truth to all things, both temporal as well as spiritual. I am a Mormon because I see the fulfillment of the promise, .."by their fruits ye shall know them." My fruits are 6 amazing children who are all employed, independent, truthful, kind and righteous, wonderful parents, have married fantastic spouses, contribute to their respective communities, and lead virtuous, faithful, honest lives. And are raising my 20 grandkids in the way that will help them be the same way. When we see the Savior's teachings go to the second and third generation--we can "take that to the bank" and trust in His word.

How I live my faith

My husband and I have just completed serving in a married student ward in Rexburg, ID at Brigham Young-Idaho University. He served as bishop for 3 years and we loved that chance to associate with these exceptional 20+ year olds. Make no mistake, though he was the bishop, it was a 2-person calling of service! And we both loved those wonderful years and students. We have just been called to serve as Temple missionaries in our Church's new Paris, France temple! We are so excited to go for 2 years and serve in the land my husband served as a young missionary 45 years ago. Our Latter-day Temples perform sacred ordinances for both the living (members of the Church), and for those who have passed on, our relatives and others, because we believe God loves ALL His children. He wants to save and bring home ALL His children of every land, time, and nation. We believe the saving ordinances of baptism --like our Savior--and marriage can be the opportunity to have our families together forever. In fact, we believe so strongly in family ties, we call Temple Marriages, Sealings, to emphasize the eternal nature of this sacred ceremony. We're excited to serve in a new capacity, new country, and a brand new Temple! Check out the videos and information on the Paris France Temple on utube, under "Public Invited to Tour the Paris, France temple".

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

God has provided prophets thru many generations from the beginning of time Why wouldn't He provide one now, in the last days, when times are so turbulent for us, His children? Yes, I do believe that our Church is led by a Prophet today, whom God speaks to and thru. Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

As we look at the scriptures thru the ages in the Holy Bible, all the prophets in all ages past have testified of a Savior, and of the need for a Savior. God wants us to return home to Him because we are His children, and He loves us. But "no unclean thing" can be in God's presence, so He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ to help us become clean thru the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It is the purest expression of God's and Christ's love for us. Show more Show less
