Hi I'm Jennie

I'm from Sacramento, California and I'm preparing to serve a mission in Minnesota. I'm a Mormon and I love this gospel.

About Me

I just finished my freshman year of college at Brigham Young University and am currently preparing to serve a mission. I've been assigned to labor in the Minnesota, Minneapolis mission and I can't wait! A few of my passions are swimming, piano and cooking. My culture and heritage is also incredibly important to me. My mom is Hmong and was born in Laos. Her family left Southeast Asia after the Vietnam War and ended up living in France for 15 years before moving to the United States. My dad was called to serve a Hmong-speaking mission, which eventually led to him meeting my mom. I've grown up bilingual and feel so blessed to be a part of such a beautiful culture.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, with parents who encouraged me to attend church and cultivate a testimony of my own. While I am eternally grateful for that, I've also realized that there was a point in my life where I had to really decide for myself whether or not I knew this was true. Relying on the faith of my parents would only get me so far. After much prayer and learning to recognize God's hand in my own life, I know without a doubt that this gospel is true and I believe it with all that I am. My decision to serve a mission has only strengthened my testimony about the gospel. My mom was a convert to the church and my dad met my mom through his mission. I don't know where I'd be today without the love and sacrifice of missionaries all over the world. I am a Mormon because I believe it and I know it to be true. Everything makes sense because of my beliefs and nothing would make sense without them.

How I live my faith

My faith has everything to do with the person I am. The friends I have, the choices I've made, and the experiences in my life can all be tied back to my faith. I've always been very involved in church activities and callings, and I've learned so much from my involvement. Moving away from home to go to college definitely tested my faith and day-to-day things like scripture study and daily personal prayer, but it ultimately helped me grow and mature. From a young age, I've served in many different church positions that have humbled me and taught me to pattern my life with love and service for all those around me.
