Hi I'm Lydia McGill

I'm passionate about music and family. I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life. I enjoy doing many things, and love to have a good time. I love to sing and play the piano, flute and ukulele. I love to write music and arrange songs. I taught myself to play the piano and it is one of my most favorite things to do. I also love to do things outside with my family and friends, such as: camping, hiking, going to the lake and the beach, playing sports and star gazing. I am excited to serve as a missionary in Argentina, because I love sharing the gospel with other people. I am attending a university and I am studying Early Childhood Education because I love kids! I am so excited to be a mom and to be able to raise many children of my own. I would love to run an integrated preschool with my sister. I am also planning to do a minor in editing because I love literature and reading. I love traveling and seeing new places and meeting so many different people. I love to cook and bake and make delicious food. I love being Mormon! It is my favorite thing.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon is my favorite part of my identity, and the most important to me. I was born into a family that has always been active in the church. Growing up, I relied a lot on the testimonies of my parents, siblings and grandparents. When I moved away from home to go to college, I had to decide for myself if I was going to remain an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At this point, I had read the Book of Mormon multiple times, had prayed to know if it was true, and had received a witness from the Holy Ghost that the church is true. When I was baptized, I took upon myself the name of Jesus Christ through covenant, and I intend to be a true and worthy representative of His name forever. I have the amazing opportunity to do this as a full time missionary for the next while, and I will continue to strive to do so throughout my life. I know that Joseph Smith restored the true gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth, and that He translated the Book of Mormon through the power of God. I love the Book of Mormon, and I know that it is true because each time I read it, I feel the spirit testifying to me that it is. I sustain Thomas S. Monson as the President of this church, and I know that He is a prophet called of God. I know that through the gospel, and through the priesthood power of God in His holy temples, we can be with our families forever. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior, and that through Him we can become clean, every single day, and eventually return to live with our Heavenly Father again. I am grateful for this knowledge. I know it for myself, independent of anybody else. I testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

Before I moved home to prepare for my mission, I was in a student ward at the university that I attend. All of the people in my ward were students, so it was a cool experience to be involved in helping the ward function. I was called to serve as the Relief Society President, which means that I got to serve all of the women in my ward, and help them with everything they need. I also served as a visiting teacher, where I was able to interact on a more personal level with a few girls in my ward. I helped plan activities, teach lessons, participate in musical numbers, and help the ward function as I worked with the Bishop and other leaders on the ward council.
