Hi I'm John

I grew up in Plano Texas, I joined the Marines after High school, I'm now preparing for a full time mission I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a convert to the church. I Grew up in the Methodist Church with family. As i grew older my parents stop going to church because there bible study separated but i still wanted to go. as i tried going on my own it just was not the same with out the family there and the group that i had grown to love so soon i stopped going. at the age of 17 i lost my father to a sudden accident. it was at that time i quickly turned to God and asked Him for help and that i knew this had all happen for a reason and i wasn't going to let it drag me down. I soon decided to change for the better i lost 100 pounds, got my Eagle, was going to church, worked harder at school and enlisted in the Marine Corps. I Wasn't quite sure what would happen once i joined the Marines but i knew i needed to. while in the Marines i had a lot of ups and downs but 2 years in and my life was about to change forever. a friend of mine is Mormon and i asked him are you christian? many people had told me the Mormons were not Christians but i had to find out for my self. my friend told me yes we are we are " The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Later Day Saints" its kinda in the name. This one conversation led to the discussions witch led me to Baptism. after i was baptized it wasn't all easy my faith has been tested way more then i could have expected but it surly has become stronger. Now I'm preparing to serve a full time mission and have received my call and have a testimony knowing that is where i need to be.

Why I am a Mormon

I had been looking for a church i belonged to not sure when or where that might be at at first i thought well i just haven't meet the right people then I thought well maybe its not the people i should be looking for but maybe its a relationship with God. I wanted to follow Heavenly Father and His will for me so i began asking questions about well where does my pastor get authority and why if Christ taught us to live one and preformed miracles why don't they happen today. Is "God not the Same yesterday today and tomorrow" then at least on a fundamental level or Doctrinal level it all be the same. one day i was working with my Mormon buddy and asked do you believe in Jesus Christ? His reply was yes I do we are 'The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Later Day Saints" its kinda in the name. This one conversation led to me asking to come to church then invited to take the discussions. Ill never forget the first discussion the missionaries told me about Joseph Smith and his first vision and about the restoration of the gospel and how the book of Mormon came to be. I thought this all make perfect since but then they asked me if i believed theses things to be true and if Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God, all of a sudden i felt this over whelming warmth and it was if God Him self was speaking to me saying Hear i am hear me. overwhelmed by this felling i said that if i lost every thing else fell apart i knew right then that my Father loved me and was there for me saying come my child and i shall take care of you. from that point on though its no always been easy i have followed His path this path. I promise you as you search the scriptures in faith and ask of God the Eternal Father if these things be true he will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost And by The power of the Holy Ghost you may know the truth of all things is so testify in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

How I live my faith

My Church family is a great one were not all perfect but were all trying. we each support on another in what ever way we are able to no matter what we each love one another. part of how i help out at church is as an assistant scoutmaster my main goal is to help boys get to the rank of first class witch is the level at witch the boys know all the basic skills to be a well rounded scout. its not always easy but it is always worth it to see a boy grow from a cub scout to a Boy Scout. I also love to help others out so anyone who needs help maybe moving, teaching, or maybe just a sound board to listen to there problems I try to be there. To most I'm like a son and to others I'm like a brother either way is fine to me. life isn't always about about you often times its about other and how better to do that then as a member of one big Family.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

The Bible is a made up of writings by prophets and apostles handed down from generation to generation. The book of Mormon is like the bible in this very way it was written by Mormon a prophet that took the account of many other apostles and prophet and put them in to one account and hid up for the future generations so that when we were ready the authority of God could be restored to the earth and God church would be restored to its fullness. Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

We baptize new members so the can follow in Jesus Christ and his example, by doing this they become clean from there sins and after receive the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. It is important that those whom choose to join our church to be baptized by the proper priesthood authority, witch is the authority of God given to men witch was given back to the Earth through the prophet Joseph Smith.
