Hi I'm Civylor Ascano Callanta

I was born in Hong Kong. Raised by Filipino Parents. Grew up as a Canadian. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love reading and I love meeting new people! I go to the gym everyday to train myself to endure anything life throws at me. Most of my work experience is in the hospitality industry because like I said, I love meeting new people!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a former Roman Catholic. I was pretty active in the church but slowly lost my faith. I knew that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ existed but to me it seemed like they only care about other people. I blamed Them for every single thing that went wrong in my life. I thought to myself that maybe God and Jesus Christ thinks I'm nonredeemable and that I am a lost cause. Not until I met the Mormon missionaries. They taught me that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ loves me no matter what! They taught about the things I need to do to become closer to my Father in Heaven and my Saviour Jesus Christ. Without my knowing, I had a desire to be a part of God's kingdom. Slowly, my faith returned and the Book of Mormon is a big part of that. I read it everyday and I always knelt in prayer to ask God if the Book of Mormon is true. As i got to 2 Nephi 31:5 it reads, And now, if the Lamb of God, He being holy, should have need to be baptized by water to fulfill all righteousness, O then, how much more need have we, being unholy, to be baptized, yea, even by water! Suddenly it hit me, I started crying. My tears aren't for sadness but for joy. I knelt right away in prayer and asked God if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His true church and if I have to be a part of it. I felt a warm feeling inside, like I was being hugged from the inside and instantly I knew that that was God answering my prayer. I joined the church and here we are, enjoying the blessings that come from being a part of His one true church on Earth!

How I live my faith

I teach little kids ages 10 and 11 during Sunday school and I am currently a ward missionary for the church. I study my scripture everyday to try to learn more about the Saviour Jesus Christ and how to live a life that He did.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Civylor Ascano Callanta
Jesus Christ set the example by being baptized by immersion Himself. Just as Jesus was baptize by John the Baptist, we must also be baptize by someone holding the proper priesthood authority. When we are baptize, we promise to accept Christ and become His followers and to obey and follow His commandments and strive to live a worthy life everyday. Show more Show less
