Hi I'm Karen

I'm a Mormon. I am preparing to serve a mission in Melbourne Australia. I will serve as a senior adult missionary for 18 months.

About Me

I have been widowed 3 times, divorced once, have 7 seven children plus my last husband's 6 children and our 58 grandchildren & many great grandchildren whom I love and stay in contact with through monthly birthday cards, texts, emails, phone calls etc. I love serving in my community as a board member of the local food pantry. I used to serve in local schools when my children were growing up. I have worked in county government, as president of my senior community HOA, in my local wards around the United States, in the local temple. I am so grateful that missionaries brought the gospel to my great grandparents in England many many years ago. I'm so thankful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints which teaches me who I am, where I came from, why I am here and where I can go after this life if I remain faithful to the covenants I have made with my Heavenly Father & His Son, Jesus Christ in his church on earth today. I am grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost to help me every day during my mortal sojourne on this beautiful earth God has made for us, his children, whom He loves. Praise their names forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a child but then chose to remain active in the church as I grew up far away from the main body of church members. The majority of my family did not choose this lifestyle and I often felt alone in my choice. But wonderful leaders, teachers, friends and an older sister & mother led the way for me to find joy in my associations with the few other members in my area. I have moved often over the course of my adult life and found great satisfaction and happiness in living the gospel with others of my faith and sharing this with my own family. As I advance in age I have never regretted the choice I made as a child to belong to God's church restored to the earth through the Prophet Jospeh Smith and established again as it was anciently.

How I live my faith

I love teaching children to sing about Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ & the Holy Ghost. I love to visit my dear women friends and support them in their trials and joys. I am so happy to serve in the temple. I am grateful for those of my congregation who serve me, encourage and support me and offer me the hand of fellowship. I am energized to work with youth who are amazing examples of goodness in a stressful world. I am humbled to be led by prophets, apostles and the Priesthood of God. I am so blessed by God every day and thankful to be able to pray to him & receive answers to my prayers, express my eternal gratitude for all his blessings & gifts of the spirit and feel his love for me.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Karen
I am preparing to serve as a missionary as a senior citizen. I am leaving my home in the care of family members, setting up financial matters, and organizing my life to be able to concentrate all my energies to this important work. I will pay all my own living expenses as I serve in a foreign country, pay all my regular utilities, taxes, other normal required expenses for my home, continue to donate my tithing and fast offering to my home ward, and keep my Medicare coverage through payments as usual but pay extra each month for supplemental health coverage through the church endorsed company since Medicare does not pay for services outside the United States. This is called consecration of all my time, talents, blessings and gifts from God. Show more Show less
