Hi I'm Sage

I have lived and loved in California, Mississippi, Utah, Idaho, and soon West Virginia! I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born in Orange County, California, and lived there for the first fourteen years of my life. As a child, I attended a very artsy private school in which every year my class was the same as the year before, and we moved together in the grades with our teacher. They emphasized things like learning about mythology, doing plays, art, handwork, woodwork, and gardening. I remember looking forward to the Greek Olympics and the Medieval Games when I was old enough to participate. They were very exciting times. I attended that school from preschool to seventh grade, and attended public school for the first time in eighth grade. As there were no grades or point-systems of any kind in the only other school I'd been to, it was a rough adjustment, but eventually I got it, and succeeded in my new school. After many school board-public hearings, that school closed down to save the district money. My family moved away too, across the country in deep-Mississippi. I attended high school there, and it was very different, but I appreciated the experience with the special, sweet people like nowhere else. My heart still yearns for the South! After moving to Utah, I went up to college in cold Idaho where I finally learned to ski, which I love so much! Especially in the Teton mountains! I also love to sing and I play the viola! I love music so much and think it is so powerful! I also love to write and read. I will soon be serving a full-time mission for my church in the West Virginia mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to receive all the blessings God has for His children on this earth, and receive the fullness of the Gospel in this special time of growth and new technologies and inventions, creations galore. I have felt so much joy in my life because of my Heavenly Father's love and the love of the Savior, Jesus Christ, His Son. They have provided the gospel for me, and every time I share it through spoken word, written word, or words sung, I feel this peace knowing that I have created and shared something beautiful. I also feel this peace when I hear others share with me what they know to be true, and the things they love. Every time I hear a beautiful song, I know it comes from God because it is good, and I feel a special power ignite in me. It is the power of God. I know He is there, and that He loves me, and has blessed me with special talents, so that I can share this light and joy with others. I have had the privilege to make sacred covenants with God, and those opportunities have been so special and sacred, and personal. I have had the privilege of entering in His holy temples and feeling of His Spirit there. I have learned, and my mind has expanded, and I have felt right at home. I know I lived with Him once, and that He is our Father. I know we can all live with Him again. This is our destiny! We are good, and I am a Mormon because I want to share with the world that there is hope, and there is light and happiness, and new beginnings for each son or daughter of God (all of us). All we have to do is call on God, and He will answer our questions, and understand our pleading and broken hearts and dreams, and will make new ones for us, that are better, and brighter than the ones we fashioned for ourselves. We are brothers and sisters on this earth, and we have a common goal - reaching happiness, something higher, something purer, and more enjoyable. We can have that in the gospel of Jesus Christ. There is comfort here, and reassurance, and hope.

How I live my faith

In my church, I currently serve as a ward missionary in my ward for Young Single Adults. We welcome new members and help orient them to the ward and activities we have that they can get involved in. We also welcome in those who are less active to come along and attend the activities with us! I also visit girls in my ward as part of my "visiting teaching" calling, as often as I can. I share a spiritual message with my companion who comes with me, or sometimes we just catch up with the girls! I also live my faith by studying the word of God (the scriptures) every day, to remind myself of eternal truths I've known, and learn of new things God wants to teach me. I strive to serve others in every way I can, and bear my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that I know to be true. I love to bear my testimony (what I know I can testify of because I know it's true) through song, sharing my voice with others often, and playing viola and practicing the talents God has given me, including writing talents. I love sharing my testimony on social media and so it can reach people who live far away from me! I love to share the love of the Savior that I have felt in my life!
