Hi I'm Emma Carpio

I'm from Honduras. I served a mission in the Dominican Republic. I'm a mormon.

About Me

Youngest in a family of seven. Into reading and drawing. Love harmonizing and never get tired of it. Learning how to play the ukulele is on my bucket list for this year. Dogs are life. The older the music, the better. Can watch the same movie a dozen times but can never quote it. Served a mission in the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, East.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up reading the scriptures in our family unit every night, actively participating in all of church activities and going to Church on Sundays. At some point though I found myself wondering if it was truly the Lord's church. I never questioned it wasn't, but up to that moment I had never received a clear assurance that it was, or at least that's how I felt. It took fervent prayers and asking. Ultimately, I came to the conclusion that every time I studied the Book of Mormon I felt my questions being answered. Every time I heard somebody bear their testimony I felt an undeniable reassurance that what they were saying was true. Every time I heard a lovely hymn I felt His love. It's as if He was telling me: "See? You know this to be true. Don't doubt my little one." I realized I knew it all along. We don't need to be visited by an angel or struck by some sort of magical spiritual lightning to know that the church is true. The Spirit speaks to us in very personal ways but it takes eyes that see, ears that listen and hearts that'll feel. I'm grateful to now know without ANY doubt in my soul that I am a part of His Church and that His everlasting Gospel is available to me. He lives and more than anyone else wants us to return to our Heavenly Home. He cares for all of us.

How I live my faith

Working with the youth from my church community has taught me that a good listener goes a long way and hugs are always appreciated. My favorite part is helping them remember that there is a Savior who forgives. Christ's Atonement, or the suffering He went through, is ever effective today to cleanse us from sin and guilt. We don't have to go through what He did if only we're willing to repent and sincerely say sorry. He lives to bless us with His love. Watching them learn and live up to this for themselves is my ultimate goal and most rewarding achievement.
