Hi I'm M. Parkinson

I grew up all over the West Coast of the USA. I attended BYU-Idaho for a few short years. I'm serving a mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love theater and singing. I was in almost all of my high school's plays, musicals, and choirs. The past few years I attended BYU-Idaho, but now I am preparing to serve an LDS mission. My family and I moved around a lot growing up, because my dad was in the Navy. I've lived all over the west coast, mid-west, and for 4 years I lived in Puerto Rico.

Why I am a Mormon

Because it's true!!!!! I grew up a member of this church. I did not have a testimony of the powerful gospel truths that the Mormon church has until I was nineteen. I had just moved away from home for the first time, and decided to try to go to church. I hadn't gone to any church activities in years. It was when I was packing and unpacking all of my things into my new home, that I came across an old scripture mastery card. "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." (Ether 12:27) I had this epiphany that the struggles in my life at this time--my depression, my family's struggles--so many things that seemed difficult had the hope of progress and joy. I attended church and found many friends. I began to read the Book of Mormon for the first time and watched as my life began to be more blessed than ever before. My family found strength and joy, my work progressed and I was promoted within 3 months. I felt more peace and love and joy and hope in my life as I read these powerful scriptures. I found truth in the words written and I found the beginnings of a strong testimony. The strongest testimony I can give now 6 years after reading the Book of Mormon for the first time, is that Christ lived, died and was resurrected. He died so that we can have the atonement and the Gift of the Holy Ghost. He loves us. He loves you. He wants nothing but our happiness and for us to feel the joy of returning to our Heavenly Father. Joseph Smith helped to restore the Gospel because he sought truth from the Lord. "Seek and ye shall find. Ask and ye shall receive. Knock and it shall be opened unto you."

How I live my faith

Over the years, I have been called to be a Relief Society teacher during third hour. I also helped to organize group activities within the singles ward. My favorite church activity so far was when we got to fly in our bishop's helicopter! What a view! Most recently, I do not have any callings in my ward, but that is because I received my mission call to serve in Georgia. I love service! A few years ago, I had some trials in my life and it was amazing to watch and observe the Lord's hand in my life through the service others so willingly provided. They helped me back on my feet and taught me how to actively choose to have faith and courage. I will always be grateful for this sweet testimony of helping others and letting others help you. Sometimes it's easy to struggle independent and alone, but we never have to be alone...especially in our trials and during times of faith.
