Hi I'm Carter

I grew up Dallas. I am a pre-med student at BYU, currently serving in the Portugal Lisbon Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I am halfway through my sophomore year at BYU studying neurosciences, planning on medical school to become a psychiatrist. I love learning and if I could be a professional student as a career, I would. I was a swimmer in high school and I still miss having a pool and team to practice in and with. I love listening to and making music, teaching myself to play church hymns on the piano and organ. I love the X-Men movies and the Ender's game books. I also love our Earth and wish I could be more integrated with it in hiking, gardening, etc.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is the only way to truly be happy, even if it means I do things differently than others. I am a Mormon because by following this faith, I have become incredibly close to God and His son, Jesus Christ, and I by doing so have felt their love and strength. I am a Mormon because God blesses me for doing so, which makes everything in life better and easier.

How I live my faith

I just finished being an assistant Cub Scouts leader for my church. But now, I am serving a mission for the church, teaching and serving the people of Southern Portugal and their islands for two years. I live my faith in my daily prayers and scripture study. Every Sunday I attend church and I try to go to the temple just as often. I also live my faith by following God's commandments and the prophets' instruction to us.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

The church is growing because it brings what every human being wants: happiness. It gives us knowledge that we will see our dead friends and family again. It helps us live a lifestyle best suited for happiness. It gives us a social network to become integrated in, to feel purpose, friendship, and belonging. All of these things combine to experience a great happiness. Show more Show less
