Hi I'm Jim

I grew up in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii. The Lord has granted me a multitude of experiences in life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an old guy now, but I grew up in the ocean off Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii. At the time I had absolutely no ambition in life other than to play in the ocean the rest of my life. When I was 12 years old I was the only one in my family to join the LDS church. That’s when I discovered that Heavenly Father had way more ambition for me than I did. My life has been full of miracles; miracles to me anyway. One of them was graduating from college, another was getting married, and four more when I had children. Two of our children were born with a genetic skin defect that took their lives early; one survived to 19 and the other to 36. We have been wonderfully blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

When I joined the church at twelve years of age, even then, it sounded like a happy way of life. Life was not all happiness. Just like everyone else there were life’s trials that happen to me, but armed with an understanding of the gospel and a relationship with God that had developed over time; I was able to call upon God for help. And He answered me in various ways. I now see those trials as growing experiences and with the Lord’s help I have become a better person. I now know for certain that anyone who puts their trust in God will be supported in their trial, and their troubles, and their afflictions. Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ will make a better version of who you are.

How I live my faith

I would say that even though we had challenges with medical problems, we lived a normal life on the surface, but underneath we were richly blessed. We have participated in disaster clean up, donated time to working on welfare farms, cannery assignments to prepare canned goods for welfare projects including cheese factories assignments. We still had time for hobbies such as surfing, sport climbing, fishing, astronomy, and lots of fun things. My daughter who had a severe medical disorder could out fish me. I took my two older boys with no medical problems hiking and fishing in Yellowstone Park.
