Hi I'm Jacob

I am a Master Knight. I worked as a Testing Proctor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a swordfighter (with boffers) and know how to fence. Yes, they are two different things ;) I also do a bit of leatherworking, I like good and honest work, and I'm about to graduate from college with my Associate's Degree before serving an LDS Mission. I'm dependable, honest, and love to learn. I believe that every single person is attractive in some way, and that greatness resides within each and every one of us. I love people, wise quotes, and being actively engaged in a good cause. You rock.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I'm a Mormon? Gee whillikers......well, I can explain it logically.........but personally it'll mean a lot more. Logically, I believe we all already live by faith. For example, how in the world do I know that this history book is telling the truth? I've never seen the stuff it talks about, and I have never met the people that wrote the book, so why in the world would I believe such a thing? Wide acceptance doesn't make something true. So I trust and I believe. Much the same with the Book of Mormon. I've never seen the stuff it talks about and I've never personally met the people it talks about, but I trust and believe. And that's where the personally part comes in. As I've lived the teachings taught, studied the scriptures, prayed, and sought the truth I've been blessed to find it. I've had personal experiences over and over and over again that confirm to me the reality of God, His Son, the Holy Ghost, and that I (and you) are sons and daughters of God. I know he loves each one of us and as I've lived His Gospel I've been blessed with the power to overcome any obstacle, any trial, and any difficulty that comes my way through Him. Again, over and over again it has been proven. If you've any desire to know for yourself, look! Try! Give it a shot! Nothing ventured, nothing gained, and the reward is beyond imagination. If you honestly are looking for the truth, then do so today. Tomorrow never gets here, anyway. And to those that believe and know of the Gospel's truth, I add to your testimonies my own. I know God knows each and every one of us. He is there, and Jesus Christ is our Redeemer. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Go for it. Go to know.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by learning and acting. I learn from others perspectives, from experiences, from God, from school, and from those around me. Then I think and I act. I act on what I learn and seek for truth wherever it is found. On my way I keep in mind that others are important and strive to give service in the ways that I can. A couple ways I do so is by being friendly and kind, but also firm in what I believe and know to be right. I strive to help others understand what might be unfamiliar and love to give help to those that are willing to receive it. I strive to be an example to any who might be watching, but also realize that I am far from perfect and that I've always got somewhere to improve or refine. I live my faith by being it.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Jacob
Having feelings is not a sin. We all have feelings! For some, however, you have strong sexual feelings toward the same sex. Straightforwardly, God has commanded all of us that sexual intimacy is only acceptable between a man and a woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife. This is hard for some! And it's okay that it is difficult. Going through something hard doesn't make you a bad person. God does not ask us for emotional motivation, He asks us for our obedience. Throughout history people have been asked to do hard things: Moses to lead Israel out of bondage, fishermen to leave their nets and livelihood, Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, a gay/lesbian person to obey God's commandments concerning marriage. Bridle your passions and God will be with you. We are commanded to "love one another" and you can still love others of the same sex, but do it with a Christlike love. I love my brothers and sisters in the Church, and those outside it, too! As you strive to keep God's commandments I know that you will be blessed. God often gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers, and as you strive to obey all of His commandments you will be blessed. This I know. Show more Show less
