Hi I'm Sarah

I'm a Californian, I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a creative brain. I enjoy learning, art, cake decorating, sewing, cooking, baking, horseback riding, family history, being with friends and family, hiking, camping, meeting new people, puns, and playing flute, piano, and piccolo. I struggle with Seasonal Affective Disorder, which can be very debilitating during the winter. I guess my body is just used to sunny California! It loves light. :) Most of all, I love laughing! Something a little weird about me is I love glasses! I worked as an optician for awhile and it has been my favorite job by far! I loved working with people and choosing glasses that fit them perfectly. Each pair of glasses has it's own personality. I get to help people find that perfect match! Family is a huge part of my life. I am serving a mission in Montana for the next 18 months because I love families and I know the joy that comes from the gospel. My family challenges are much easier because I use the Gospel of Jesus Christ every day. IT WORKS!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been through some incredibly challenging things in my life: deep depression, deaths of family members, and low self-esteem. In all of these cases, the Gospel of Jesus Christ as restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith has been the light in the darkening tunnel. It was not always easy, though I believe that the best things in life rarely come easily. The principles are simple and work. It provided me with hope, peace, and joy. The Book of Mormon has been an incredible resource for me to turn to. I have come closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ, than any other book I have read. I can promise that the blessings I have seen can come into everyone's life who really seeks for it. God and His Son, Jesus Christ, love us so much because we are children of God. I am literally a daughter of God and he knows me. I have seen that in my life. In my deepest darkest moments, Christ is there to lift me up. God promises that "For a small moment have I forsaken thee, but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment, but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer (3 Nephi 22:7-8; Isaiah 54)." That promise has been fulfilled in my own life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by the words I use, the clothes I wear, and my behavior. I believe that I show my faith, not just talk about it. If people cannot tell who I am by observing me, I am doing something wrong. I am not a perfect person. In fact, I am far FAR from it, but I try my best every day. I am a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am serving in the Montana, Billings mission from May 2017-November 2018 speaking English. My favorite calling the church is Family History teacher and temple trip coordinator. I love my family and I love the journals and life stories that I find. They help me understand where I came from and how I can continue through my own challenges. It helps me to keep my life in perspective. Otherwise, I think I would go crazy! I cannot talk about Family History without talking about the Temple! I LOVE THE TEMPLE. It is absolutely beautiful and provides me with the most peace during my darkest times. Seriously, if you want to be happy, the temple is the happiest place on earth. That is saying something, because I grew up going to Disneyland...
